The Titans new stadium cost $2.1 billion, less than the cost of a Seawolf class sub

Average cost was $3.3 billion per submarine

And that was in 90s money, and the Navy wanted to build 21 of them

I wonder how much they would cost if military spending/contracting practices were reformed. Cutting military spending is a dirty phrase, though.

Something isn’t adding up with this post or you have a comma where it should not be.

I would assume the per unit cost would have gone down as they built more. Generally that is the case anyway.

At least we get something of value with the sub. Why do the Titans need a new stadium?

To an extent, maybe. I’m sure the engineering on this is astronomical, so that’d drive an overall unit cost down slightly. But I doubt there is any major sub manufacturer that can pump these out like candy. I could be wrong, but I would assume these are all custom built. Maybe productivity at some point would increase? But would be minimal savings if any. They are already likely get bulk steel savings on the first one. Suppliers can only discount so much on bulk.

Just my 2 cents though.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. So much wasted money that could be sent to Ukraine instead.

The city would get a massive domed stadium for all events that will generate crazy revenue. The ROI is there for a destination place like Nashville.

Well, considering there are bigger money pits for the US government to sink its money in, military spending ought to be one of the last things cut.

You can pretty much guarantee a handful of Super Bowls as well as National Championship games in football and basketball. Not to mention the concert stadium shows
