I saw a new one at a restaurant in Dallas. 18% was added for any party starting at a party of 4. I've see that be common place for a party of 8 and occassionally 6.

On the bill, it had a line for an addtional tip.

Why's that so funny? 18% is below the "standard" tip.

If you're hitting me up for guaranteed gratuity on parties less than 8, there's basically zero shot I tip more.

An auto-gratuity on a party of 4 isn't a tip....it is a service fee.

On the other end of the spectrum, people ordering groceries and having them delivered, will leave a $5.00 tip. I'm not talking about a Kroger pick list thing, I'm talking about an app where the person goes shopping, pays for the order and then delivers it. I know some college kids doing it and they were talking about how the money sucks but if you do enough, you can make a little. I was thinking, if you're too damn lazy to do your own shopping, the least you can do is tip more than $5 an order. Society has went to hell in a handbasket.

Boomers have been tipping a flat fee of $5 since 1984.

The funny part to me is it was for a table of 4 in this case. I had never seen that.

Not doing it for laziness.

We own a couple of acres in a neighboring county. The wife (no pics) went to pay our taxes last year and there was a tip jar in front of the clerks window! It really ticked the wife off.

I tip everyone, even the Vivant & solar panel solicitors. Is that wrong?

It's more like the decline of service, pretentious tip shaming, asking for something for nothing, and/or thinking you are owed something you're not backlash.

I am a generous tipper but I will not tip you generously for subpar service nor will I be compelled to tip as though it is my duty or to people who do nothing to warrant a tip.

Waiters and waitresses have to deal with every sort of awful person you can imagine so I have a difficult time not tipping them at least the customary 15%. On the flip side, I feel no compulsion to tip when I have to go up to a counter and order my food then go pick it up when it is ready.

I do tip the workers at the concessions at TS when it is a high school or organization working the concessions to earn money.
