I usually take the interstate unless the traffic report says it's blocked up by an overturned 18 wheeler or something like that

December this past winter was actually really nice. Mid-January was when the shite hit the fan

Yes it's a long 3 months, but the other 9 completely make up for it.

Unless you have a family or something, just pick a place and go. I've done that a couple times (SF, Chicago, Vancouver, BC); it's no big deal. It's like going on vacation for a couple months as you get to know the city, meet people, get a job or whatever.

Took a look down a westbound road
Right away I made my choice
Headed out to my big two-wheeler
I was tired of my own voice
Took a bead on the northern plains
And just rolled that power on

Twelve hours out of Mackinac City
Stopped in a bar to have a brew
Met a girl and we had a few drinks
And I told her what I'd decided to do

She looked out the window a long long moment
Then she looked into my eyes
She didn't have to say a thing
I knew what she was thinkin'

Roll, roll me away
Won't you roll me away tonight
I too am lost, I feel double-crossed
And I'm sick of what's wrong and what's right
We never even said a word
We just walked out and got on that bike
And we rolled
And we rolled clean out of sight.

I've got it right now. Been living in the southwest for too long. Time to either head north through the Rockies or head east to the gulf. The plan is to take off in June and see where the road leads.

I spoke to a woman tonight who appeared to be roaming but it turns out she is just an academic on a project. Pointless.

If you can't shake it, maybe you should give it a shot. Could be the best thing you've ever done

Probably not the exact scenario you are describing but...

Wife and I plan to uproot once kids are out of college and take to the highway. Once we are on that highway we are going to find an island in the Caribbean and never come back.

Either that or just stay an extra week at Orange Beach each summer.

Could go either way right now.

Not really. It's just stuff. You can buy stuff anywhere. The have whole buildings dedicated to selling you stuff.

Worry about what you will do with your limited time on this planet and what memories you will create...not stuff.

Yep, I don't own anything that I would shed a tear over losing and can't be easily replaced. Living is more important than stuff.

I did it until my kids started school. When they are finished with school (6 more years), I'm gone.
