Great read- thanks for sharing.

Having worked at a pain management clinic in the past, I'm glad to be able to say it was one that was always very strict and overly cautious with the narcotic prescriptions they wrote and the subsequent care and monitoring of the patients. While the mandatory urine drug screens are costly to the medical practices, I think they are absolutely beneficial in helping curb opioid abuse in the patients. Most folks wouldn't believe the drugs that some patients test positive for. Random pill counts were helpful as well in my opinion. And to add to another posters comments about threats- we had a good many of those as well which we always called the police department to handle. In a country where opioid abuse is so rampant, it's comforting to know that there are people fighting back against those that are fueling it.

Yeah I would've been fearing for my life if I were him. And that witness that told him who killed his son..she was brave too. Sad that these people have to worry for their safety just for doing the right thing.

The dad was probably fearless at that point.

i would have thought, more than likely the guilty parties were/are likely victims of the proverbial hail of gunfire themselves - long ago....

That man is a God damn hero. What a beautiful ending to a tragic story all around.

Does she ever prescribe anything stronger in cases of true need. Because honestly, we don’t want to be to far left or right on the spectrum of pain management. If you have a broken bone give that cat some fricking Narco and not Tylenol.

She prescribes what is needed. If you need dulodid (sp) she will give it to you. But she also says drugs like oxycotin are rarely needed, there are substitutes that are equally as effective and far less addictive and street easy.

Mr Bradley the pharmacy owner turned a blind eye it sounded like. I'm surprised he didn't catch a bit more scrutiny in the article. (maybe he did but they didn't include it)

They made it seem like he tried to fight the fight when he was younger, but he never got anywhere and lost customers so he gave it up.

People taking entire day trips to Houston to see their “Doctor” and coming back with 120 Roxie’s, 120 Xanax, and 90 soma. I was amazed that it went on as long as it did.

I know someone who made a living off of driving to Houston 2x per week for about 5 years.

He was just a middle man in a pill scheme and still made enough money to do nothing but drive 16 hours per week. Some of the stories he has shared with me are unbelievable.

Similar stuff to what SS said. The employees of the places were straight up hood gang bangers and the doctors were all kinds of fricked up themselves.

He's actually working with the author of this article to possibly do a book that would be more centered on the search for his son's murderer. However, he's not quite sure he wants to relive all of it again. But he's definitely considering it.

Ha! Just skimmed thru this old thread after posting my new update today. Looks like some of us knew this could happen.
