The program only achieved one unmanned space flight in 1988.

The orbiter design looks vaguely familiar...
That's trippy.
Lotta shite just got parked (or berthed) when the Soviet Union broke up.
The Pacific Fleet based in Vladivostok is another example, except the Russians directly control that real estate.

Wonder where they got the design from...

I'd imagine most of those are more or less still modestly functional. Why did they not use them, but continue to use the soyuz?

Apparently, while the appearance looks similar, the design is pretty different from the American counterpart. Or so I've read.

These shuttles are actually located at the currently used Russian spaceport.

Here is some more info on the Soviet shuttle program and its failure. As you can imagine, the fall of the USSR was a big player in it not being used.

There's a good story about the Soviets reverse engineering our B-29 bombers during late WWII and right afterwards.
I'll see if I can find a short version and post the link herein.
ETA: Here's the link to the Wiki page on the Tupolev Tu-4, which is what the Soviets called the knock-off. It explains the development of the design. LINK

For some odd reason I think it would be cool to have a restaurant in there
