The Sadvocate: 'Everyone's exhausted:' Despite Covid lull

How much do they pay local newspapers to continue to push the woe is me narrative? Do these nurses go begging to have an article written or do they just find the resident dem at the hospital? If you're exhausted, 100% of hospitals offer vacation time. But let's continue to write articles and fear porn for the people.

As a longtime intensive care unit nurse at Ochsner in Baton Rouge, she cared for people during the 2008 swine flu epidemic, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and, like many health workers, she braced before breathing a sigh of relief when the country reported a handful of Ebola cases in 2014.
None of those have compared to the latest health crisis and the burden it’s had on health workers and their spirits.
"Everyone is just as exhausted and ready for a break,” said Smith, 40. “I think right now, there seems to be some sense of relief, but everyone’s exhausted.”

It’s their job. They went into their business to help people.
ETA: Just FYI the Sadvocate is a real website.

My response to nurses that bitch right now for doing their jobs.

COVID was the most stupid exercise in overreactions that I've ever witnessed.

Hospitals are at their lowest point in over a year. World’s not going to end if you take a day off.
And like the guy above said, this is the advocate. The sadvocate is another website.

News flash: everyone says they're overworked and exhausted.
It just doesn't make much for a news story when an accountant claims he's been working 60 hours a week crunching tax forms.

People have lost businesses and jobs in all of this Covid garbage, but a person who decided to go into the profession of helping people is looking for sympathy for having a job to perform, the very same she decided to go into, one that keeps her employed?
Gimme a break.. AND YES... The Advocate is great for puppy training at this point. That’s about it.

That’s the real issue though...a lot of medical professionals went in for reasons outside of helping people and it shows.
I also find it funny that they’re just so exhausted and overworked, yet have time to give interviews to a reporter

Advocate and Nola.com are straight trash now a days.

Let’s be honest, the nurse didn’t seek out the newspaper wanting to write this story. The newspaper sought out a nurse that would say what they wanted her to say.

Exactly. I work in a hospital( not a nurse). The only nurses that do bitch are the ones that got into the profession for the money or attention it brings.

I have no doubt that hospital workers are exhausted and stressed but a lot of it has to do with the super shitty administration that runs most of these places. It's like healthcare is a dumping ground shitty managers. The f up one hospital and just get reassigned to another in the same system and whaddaya know they do the same thing there too.

Much of it has to do with the idiot we have running the state. Maybe they should do a story on how fatigued people are from having Bel’s boot on our neck.

I worked 65 hours last week, I'm tired too! The advocate should be beating my door down to give me an interview.

I'm so tired of healthcare workers pissing and moaning.
Lots of us here work in manufacturing or support manufacturing.
You wanna talk stress?
Figuring shite out on the fly.
Solving problems.
It's all part of our job.
Talk to a farmer.
Dangerous as frick job.
Stressful.
Absolutely essential.
Many other jobs that are absolutely essential.
Yet, teachers and healthcare workers cry and demand attention.

The Advocate is such a shite stain of a paper, but it's nothing that should be unexpected considering it's in Louisiana.
