Not sure why Chevy decided to copy the Subaru Outback with that headlight setup. Perhaps trying to appeal to a more colorful audience?

Not 'solved', but the 6.6 basically replacing the 6.2 in the 1500 is a big improvement.
Now if they offered the 6.6 diesel in it, I'd be sold.

I keep seeing comments like this, but if there was a market for it, they'd do it. There's not.
If you want a truck to last forever, go buy an old Tacoma and keep it running for the next 50 years. If you want the latest tech and conveniences, you'll keep buying new models.
The market has spoken and the majority of demand is in the second category. We have nobody to blame but ourselves.
I keep seeing comments like this, but if there was a market for it, they'd do it. There's not.
If you want a truck to last forever, go buy an old Tacoma and keep it running for the next 50 years. If you want the latest tech and conveniences, you'll keep buying new models.

New cars/trucks are over-engineered on purpose. Manufacturers figured out another revenue stream is the dealerships being the only ones that can do the mechanical upkeep.
If someone would start making $25k vehicles with basic equipment like 15-20 years ago and not everything on a computer like a freaking spaceship, it would sell like hot cakes.

People wanting a new truck does not mean they want all the unnecessary computerized headache that comes with it now. There is no other options thanks to government over regulation and this trend of wanting to do all the maintenance at the dealership.

Just like the ones that decide to buy a vehicle only if it comes with floor mats. The dealer adds the cost of said mats in the MSRP or adds a fee.

Marketing. People are more interested in having the newest or coolest instead of something reliable. I don't get it.
If people stopped buying them, a lot of this would change.
GM has terrible reliability issues in late model trucks and suvs, but people dont care and just buy them. It's hilarious to watch from the sidelines.

Probably will still get the 6.6 gasser, to replace at least one of the 2 6.2s we currently have, one recalled, and one too new to be recalled.
The 6.6 is the only gm gas engine that's basically untouched by the epa requirements that's led to all the problems in every other engine.
The 6.6 diesel would just make it a no-brainer.
