If you've traveled around the US over the last 5-10 yrs, you've probably noticed this plague. .
And it's rapidly creeping into or already taken over into most major Southern cities, too, among anyone under 35.
Be thankful if you're married or dating a rural gal who sounds like Laney Wilson. As annoying as that can be, it's far better than this shite...

The newer one among young white women and middle aged white women with Peter Pan Syndrome is to speak in a high-pitch voice. It's not necessarily mousy, but it sounds more like they're taking puffs of helium in between every sentence. Sort of like the playback speed was increased to 150.

Actually I haven’t. If a person talked like that anywhere I’ve ever been they wouldn’t be taken seriously.
