Organized religion is a pimple on the arse of humanity. I'm not saying atheism is the way, but these religious organizations don't care about you. It's a money/power/control thing. There are great people involved in it, but there are a megaton of snake oil salesmen.

At least she has a choice in the matter. The power and control the government wields is taken by force.

BLT churches are among the worst thing in black communities.

That's black liberation theology, not bacon, lettuce and tomato.

I tithe about 15% each week unless the service is subpar. Then it's up to my discretion. I like sending a message...

There are a lot of churches doing great things in their communities and around the world. It's unfortunate that the ones that have self-seeking leadership are the only ones we hear about.

Humans are still imperfect. It's important to remember you don't worship the people leading you and serving with yoiu.

Although not deserved for elderly black women only, I've seen many fraudulent investment opportunities championed by pastors in my time. I've legitimately seen some come to a bank and make sure the checks are made properly to their once in a lifetime investment in some foreign country.

On a related note, defrauding seniors is one of the most despicable acts that you can do and it happens on a daily basis to tons of people. Lotteries, "investments", dinar, etc. They all prey on the elderly and it creates a delicate situation when you try to help them out and expose the fraud.

it's the same problem my brain has with unions

At least unions have some real benefits. Besides unions are dwindling anyway. Gonna need a new boogeyman to blame things on soon.

There's a heirarchy there though.

The ones he listed are basically Cult of Personalities.

True. When the personality is gone, the 'church' will usually collapse. Not always, but most of the time.

This woman has also said previously that when she was working, her employer scheduled a staff development training for 3 days at a local casino and resort. She asked her pastor permission to attend the staff development meeting.

During the statue debate, we had a city councilman apologize on live TV to his pastor who was at the Council Meeting. He apologized because, rough quote "I always ask my pastor for permission to speak before I do and I forgot to ask."
