This isn't a grammar contest. I'm on a phone just making points. I'm sure analyzing grammar and spelling will take you very far in life. Keep up the good work.

You do realize that arguing you and your people are "more intelligent" while simultaneously murdering the English language takes away from your point. Right? BTW, making quite a fine living as a Curriculum Developer and Author. So, Yes, grammar and spelling have worked out quite fine. Try it some time.

I'm not the one throwing out blankets insults that make me a hypocrite based off my own OP, am I?

California rocks. Just a little too expensive for me.

Lived in Tahoe for 3 years, the Bay Area for 1 year and SoCal for a year. Awesome place but I never felt at home there. Lots of self-important people but everything else is great. Need to be a baller to really enjoy it though.

Touché.

My point isn't to put down Louisiana or the south. I constantly defend the south. I love the south. I wouldn't trade growing up in the south for anything. I'm just trying to understand why there is such a negative view of California by a lot of people on this board.

Might have something to do with you acting smarter than us and throwing out insults and stereotypes.

And for the record, I don't think all Californians are insufferable stuck up douches, but you sure seem like one.

I am from alabama and now live in California. I kind of understand the southern hate for us. I think California should be a separate country. Our electoral votes outweigh most of the south so our choices get forced on a conservative area that has fundamental objections to much of our legislation

So the reason for the hate is that people in California think they are smarter than people in the south?

No, we hate you for who you are. Don't really care what you think about the south. I know that's hard for you to accept, but it's true.

You really suck at comprehending what people are saying to you.

The reason "people" hate California is the same reason you THINK you are smarter than us and that we all have plant jobs.

You asked. I answered. You don't accept it because you are insecure. So, I'll say it again, deal with it.

What isn't reasonable is a (presumed) adult starting a thread asking why people who live thousands of miles away don't want to be his friend, and then acting like a bitch when he doesn't get the answer he wants.

I've been to all fifty states and lived in CA (Orange County and Bay Area) for about six years. I don't think it's the "best state" in the country, but it's certainly not the worst. I can tell you, with 100% certainty, that an individual's experience in a new place will be influenced by where they are (CA is as long as TX is wide), who they work and associate with and most importantly, their own attitude and interpersonal skills. If you show up someplace absolutely positive it's going to suck, it probably will.

In my experience, people often have very strong opinions about places they've never even visited, much less lived. Sometimes they've watched TV and/or read some articles, other times they just adopt the opinions voiced by their family, friends, coworkers or favorite talking head.

And FYI... If you're a duck hunting, plant operating, fisherman; CA mIght be the place for you!
