Obese patients are almost always sicker and harder to care for. Operating is harder - patient positioning, anatomy is not textbook at all etc.
In a previous job I sold orthopedic implants- primarily implants used in total hip & knee reconstructions. You would not believe how many younger obese people (in their 30's & 40's) who were on the OR table getting hip and knee replacements, primarily because of the weight they were carrying around (many were also smokers). I recall one woman in her 40's came in for a total hip and was so fat it took the surgeon over an hour to cut through the fat using cautery to gain access to the femoral neck and femur. I would guess there was 6" of fat he had to cut and retract to gain access to the surgical site and he was cussing up a storm. I've always been committed to my fitness and watching that surgery made me determined to always stay lean, it was that gross.
In addition to the physical and financial ramifications to being obese the mental is just as bad. My personal belief is that there is not one obese person who has good self-esteem and that manifests itself in many different forms (shitty quality of life, low self-esteem, eating disorders, depression, personality disorders, anti-social behavior). It's crippling.

I always think the obesity/overweight percentages are low. Walk in any Wal-Mart in MS and 2/3rds of the adults are overweight, if not obese
Same. I’ve been counting and it’s always a majority, and I don’t live in the south

had got chunky over the few years after my daughter was born, wasn't really exercising anymore and was drinking/eating like it was my job. I was still relatively fit but definitely noticed the extra weight in pictures. About 3 months ago my wife checked me, said it was the first time since we met that I had love handles. Since then I've started running 1-2 miles about 3-4 days a week. I've lost over 15 lbs, no love handles and ab definition for the first time in a decade. I changed literally nothing else, still drinking/eating at the same clip. People just need to get active.
if you are only running 1-2 miles 3 times a week and lost 15lbs, you had to have changed your diet a little bit.

Its food, but also where/how we live.
Americans health would significantly approve if everyone at least walked 30 minutes each day. But that's impossible in some places. Its no wonder generally the healthiest places in the US are urban cities where people can walk to stuff, or in places with lots of access to recreation areas, greenways and trails.
One of things that stands out about NYC is people are generally healthier there. But almost by default everyone is walking way more than the average US resident.

Bill Maher...says shame plays an important role in society, and there are things that are worth shaming
Of course he would say that, the man bangs prostitutes and hasn't self-reflected more than catching a glimpse of his own image bouncing off the coke mirror. Where is his shame for not conforming to social norms?
I don't know who's the bigger a-hole, Bill Maher, or you for referencing a has-been comedian with the worst talk show of all time.

I think There is probably a world we’re we don’t throw them a parade but still acknowledge they have inherent value as human being.
It’s not great for you but there are fat marathon runners. Some people are just big

Which is why for their own good they need to hear truth. Yall have lied to so many people they can't handle honest criticism.

meh, these things can make you unhealthy but fat gain/loss is directly attributed to calories in vs calories out. Sure you named some calorically dense ingredients but obesity is more directly correlated with the quantities of these foods and not specific ingredients. Blaming obesity on shite like this is a cop-out imo

Listen, they don’t need some random count on the internet telling them.

Evidently you do. You just don't want to hear it.

Yes they do. And in real life. It’s disgusting and deadly

Listen if you’re gonna call Another human disgusting don’t pretend you care about their health.
Again, you’re just being a count.

You don't have to care about their health.
Fat people are an expense on the Healthcare system. We all have to pay for that.

Ask your wife’s cervix. But I’m not fat or obese.
I just don’t go around being a dick to people who don’t deserve it.

I’m sure you make nothing but healthy choices too.
Like I said they shouldn’t get a parade but unsolicited medical advice isn’t necessary either.
