Anybody use to rock the dollar movies off Desiard in the 90s?

Floor was stick half the chairs didn't work, but the movie was a dollar. Commentary from other movie goers was free, and trust me there was a lot of it.

Hardest human on the planet to tackle. Pretty sure I got a concussion out of the deal.

Way to jumpstart an oldie but goodie thread. I go back home alot to hunt and miss the Monroe of the 80's and early 90's. I am going to eventually retire back home but it's going to be up the river near Sterlington. Monroe is a shitehole now.

Penn Hotel actually had a radio station on the roof at one time. Inside the penthouse on the roof.

I’m new to Monroe so it’s cool reading great it used to be because it pretty much sucks now. Where is the Penn Hotel y’all keep talking about? Does it still exist?

There used to be a little diner on the first floor looking towards the river.

My grandad and I walked there from the Ouachita Candy company and had the best sweet roll and hot chocolate ever

It was so great they had a morning AND afternoon issue of the local newspaper.
. shite. We had two papers. The Motning World or the News Star. We were World people. People who took both were rich, people that got the News Star were weird and like Pepsi and fly American Airlines

I friends that still live there, and will never leave. Most have moved to N. Monroe, but that's not much better.

Are Geno's and 6th St still around?

I can almost walk down Elmwood in my mind and tell you everyone who lived on that street:

Mitchell
Glawe
Nicholas
Underwood
Beddingfield
Bont
Amos
Stites

Driskolls lived across from Bristers and Rhymes were about 3 houses down

Damn T&C was kicking back in the day

Bolded all the names that know me and my family, played ball with almost all of them. Well, not exactly, my two older brothers were more the age of most of the guys we knew in that group you listed. A couple were a year behind my brother at OPHS but three ahead of me.
