I wish Chevy would bring back the 2 door Tahoe / Blazer. Ford is screwing up basing it off of the Ranger.

This will be a 4 door based on the Ranger platform with some tweaks to give it market differentiation from the 4 door Ranger.

Wouldn't a 4-door, SUV version of the Ranger just be a Ford Explorer (itself an evolution of the old Bronco 2)?

The point of the Bronco name, I think for many, is that it implies a full-size (i.e. F150) frame and chassis, which in turn implies a shortened, 2-door Expedition, with perhaps fewer soccer mom touches.

At least, that's what I think of when someone says, "They're bringing the Bronco back."

What am I missing?

Will the Bronco have carbon monoxide leaking into the cabin like other Fords?

If they put the 2.7 eco with aluminum body that thing would be badass in the mud

I don't think Ford should bring back the Bronco but if they do, it better not look anything like this. The OJ taint is strong with this one.

Explorer used to imply body on frame mid size suv and GT40 used to imply V8. Name doesn’t matter as long as it’s semi-capable off road.

ETA: a two door SUV built on a shortened F150 chassis and powered by a V8 sounds awesome but in reality would be a sales disaster.

So, what market will the new Bronco fill that Ford does not already have a product?

Ford has already stated it will be on the ranger/explorer frame. Prep for disappointment.

I'm guessing the Bronco will probably be some variant of the Australian Ford Everest

The Ford Everest, also known as the Ford Endeavour in the Indian market, is a mid-sized to semi-full sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced by Ford since 2003 over three generations. The Everest is a five-door SUV variant of the Ford Ranger four-door pickup truck.

ANy of those would be awesome. Hopefully they’ll have a diesel option as well.

But why?

The less weight the better.

That’s an Explorer. Ford has already confirmed the Bronco will be based on the new Ranger.

Maybe you accidentally posted the wrong picture?

My guess is that it will look like a Ranger and be in the same segment as Jeep Cherokee
