I'll say this, it looks like being unafraid to offend is hip again.

can you give me an example how the flag does not represent Freedom and Liberty? As an American I hate that you feel this way. I have been to foreign countries many times and not the good ones either. It is pretty scary to go thru armed check points. The freedom and opportunity we have (if willing) in this country is like no other. Time for people to realize this and be grateful to the ones who gave so much for these privileges. Standing at attention and saluting the flag is not too much to ask for.

The USA is no longer the leading nation when it comes to liberty. We're overtaxed, overregulated, over militarized, too many people in prison, too many stupid laws that do nothing to protect us, except for delicate sensibilities. We're just another bit nanny state with a bullish imperial military.
The flag that Francis Scott Key saw and penned "the land of the free" disappeared long ago and it's getting worse.
Military men fight for their brothers and a way of life, not a piece of cloth.

More importantly, as those of us who have been in the military know when foreigners in these shitty countries see the US flag, they KNOW it represents freedom. None of them are like "oh that's just a piece of cloth"

That makes my point. When you grow up in a country that does not allow as much freedom as the USA it becomes a deterrent for committing crime. Also the USA protects its people from those that want to take advantage of weaker people.
