I’m not miserable.
Just wishing I would have taken my fertility more seriously a lot sooner.
Chances are that I would still have had the same struggles even if I tried a lot sooner....but I’ll never know that for sure.
Does make me kinda angry at women regretting having kids. Bitches you don’t know how lucky and blessed you are.

Post the research you reference.
There are numerous studies out there. I don't recall all of the stuff I read but here's some of it:
quote:
The myth of the bonding effect of babies on marriage has been shattered through well-documented research. The American Sociological Association recently conducted a study on this very topic and found that parents are more likely to be depressed than their childfree counterparts. In fact, people without kids were happier than any other group, including empty nesters.
A 2009 New York Times article documented two decades of research examining the impact of children on marriage. The conclusion was that marital quality often drops after the transition into parenthood, and that there is an increase in marital happiness after the children leave home.
quote:
Eurostat, the European-wide statistics agency (the Brussels ONS, if you will) has published its annual report into happiness across its member states. Once again, Scandinavia tops the tables, while the impoverished states in south eastern Europe - Greece, Croatia, Hungary and particularly Bulgaria (whose inhabitants must be weeping into their shopska salata) - are at the bottom.
It’s done on a scale of 0-10, with 0 being wrist-slitting miserable, and 10 euphoric.
Britain is above the EU average of 7.1 - at 7.3. Sweden, Finland, Switzerland are all on 8, Bulgaria is on 4.8.
But one of the most intriguing details to emerge is that families with three or more children are far more likely to be very happy than families with just one or two children, than single parents and also spinsters and bachelors.

Keep approaching menopause without kids and then come back to report.
My biggest regret is not starting sooner so that I could have 5 or more.

It's an odd cult-like mentality.
No it’s not. It’s perfectly normal to want to have kids. I skimmed through half of that pretentious garbage and stopped there. Get off your high horse.

idk if i want kids of my own but i do plan on adopting. I'm pro life so i figure i might actually do something that help fix the problem instead of just complaining about it. it'll be tough with the adoption laws.

So...no links?
And your quotes don't even really say what you said.
Are the studies longitudinal? Or are they surveying young couples in their 20's without kids who are living the high life with no responsibilities and reporting happiness? Do they follow those same couples through menopause?
I'm not sure why you're all of a sudden interested in research considering nothing you've said is based on it.
I provided you with information and then supporting documentation with references to the studies. The two groups cited as the happiest in multiple studies are the two I mentioned in my earlier post. Feel free to dig.

Within a year I will know for sure if I’m gonna be a mom or not.
If it doesn’t happen...while I will be sad for a little bit...it won’t devastate me or dictate a lifetime of misery for me and my husband.
I’m just tired of the last almost 4 years of my life being basically on pause due to fertility stuff. Tired of not being able to plan trips or many other things cause of “well what if I’m pregnant then” or “nope cause I might be doing whatever treatment then and recovering” or cause we can’t afford it cause of fertility treatment costs.

However, the bond between parent and child makes all of that go away in the end for me personally. I can't imagine life without them, good and bad.

Dated a girl that was 29 who was just like this. Put up a great front that she was all about her child, but as i got to know her she always would like to engrave in my psyche that, "I sacrificed a lot for that kid", and i understood what she was saying---i miss my old life and this little squat messed it up (not her of course).
The blame was never on herself for freaking the wrong dude without protection, but rather her child.
She was a bad parent, but better D-rider. Expert in that field. I feel for her child as his mom sees him more as a detriment instead of gift.
Annnnddd, i left her sorry arse.

"I sacrificed a lot for that kid"
I take care of my kids!
Every parent sacrifices a lot for their kids, but the people who verbalize it in that manner want to feel special or be given a cookie for doing the thing everyone does and everyone knew they would have to do before they decided to have kids.

Either have kids or don't have kids. Nobody really cares except maybe your parents. I personally can't even comprehend a life without my kids. Is it a pain in the butt when I wanna go fishing and the wife is working and no sitter available? Yea, but one day they'll be big enough to go with me and that will be extremely special.

On the one hand he complains that people who have kids are like cult members while also starting multiple threads about his meaningless lifestyle choices.
