Maybe I'm wrong as I'm mostly a lurker here, but weren't you in the spanking thread telling people how to discipline their kids? If I'm wrong, I apologize.

Not that I can recall. I don't have a strong opinion on discipline styles, other than that discipline itself is incredibly important. I think there are numerous ways to administer discipline. I also think different children require different approaches.

I don’t think physical pain is necessary for a child to learn discipline. I just haven’t seen any evidence for that.

We actually try to avoid the topic as much as possible because we know where it leads.

Don't have kids if you don't think you want them.

A lot of complacent parents out there that may be overly career focused or don't provide enough attention to their children are still better than a lot of truly shitty parents out there.

This is an extremely common story.

Like parents you cannot help but discuss your stance and beliefs.
Yeah, I know I'm not selling you. That's the point. It's not the same thing.

I think you just don't understand their feelings. You think it's a cult...when they truly are telling you where their deepest sense of joy and meaning comes from. Presumably, they want you to share in that experience. You find it bizarre because you aren't that type of person.

You and your wife apparently aren't wired that way. I can tell you as a parent, I've never, once, for a single second regretted being a parent. And, my wife feels the same way. And, if anyone said something like that in my presense, I'd absolutely look down on them because it's an impossibility in my mind for any good parent.

Honestly, you shouldn't have kids. You aren't wired for it. And, you don't understand or value the experience and/or responsibility of it. That's not a bad thing in itself. It doesn't make you a bad person, or screwed up for not wanting to have kids...unless you decide to have kids, stay in this self centered mode, regret your own childs existence, all at the expense of the kid. That would make you a bad person.

Buddy, perhaps have some lunch, "soy based" and regroup for an animal thread. You need redemption!

I'm open to differing opinions when they're based on logic. I learn something new everyday. I learned a bunch of stuff about cannibals last night actually. I found it fascinating. I'm thinking about starting a thread on it.

There's not much I can do when you tell me that I must consume copious amounts of soy because some mothers regret their kids.

Yep, nature works that way, reproductive desire trumps logic. Little Peckers will be spat out at some point in time.

So you're bitching that they tell you about themselves, after you've made it a point to tell about yourself. You're kind of like a vegan, but with kids...and hygene....and gains....that's how a picture you now, with the similar mentality as a vegan.

You're going to have kids. Might as well accept it and stop trying to convince yourself otherwise on an internet message board

The most miserable people on the planet are childless women who are approaching menopause.

This isn't supported by research. Research actually shows that the happiest couples are the ones who (1) have 3 or more children OR (2) don't have any children

What did the cannibal do after he dumped his girlfriend?

He wiped his arse.

Two cannibals are sitting around a campfire. One says to the other, "I hate my mother-in-law."

The other says, "Then just eat the vegetables."

You think people who are parents don't know what it's like not to have kids?
