Not a second job, but I heard one gov employee say that nothing will change. While working from home got everything done on Tuesday-Thursday so she didn’t have to do much on Mondays and Fridays. Has kids. How is that possible to get your 40 in on 72 hours?

just like any other employee and military member, federal employees can have two jobs. Work you 8 hours, then work another job. Happens all the time.

Is this not the most democrat response ever? Yet yall wonder why govt is inefficient af.

Let’s try to remember Econ 101.

If they do this, it increases the supply of labor, which with constant demand, results in lower wages.
And it’s a double whammy, since logically they’d accept lower wages than someone who didn’t have a “primary” job.

The same two problems immigrant workers cause.

"It is being reported" is Twitterspeak for completely making shite up.

But it clearly works (as long as the tweet fits into their personal narrative). People are dumb.

Because they’re working a second job during fed business hours while at home. They’re not submitting a form for that. I’m sure some did it the correct way but most did not. Now they become fireable.

Where's you data on that? I've been a fed since the Reagan Administration, I've never known, or heard of, anyone doing that. You have to understand politicians, journalist and political commentators, etc., they all lie and grandstand.

This will be very easy to prove, we'll see how many are fired/investigated. I'll wager there's not many that will be proven to have two jobs at the same time.

Would be easy to figure out how the income was earned. Was it an 8-5 job with the govt was paying them for 8-5 work? All of would be on W-2s to back check 2nd employment

I ask this with all sincerity- How the frick would one be able to tell what hours someone worked from looking a a W2 ??

You are free to pay these soon to be fired employees out of your own pocketbook so they can maintain 2 jobs.

In this case yes.

Did you show a house, sell a house...sign paperwork during what would be your normal government job hours.

I don't know any successful realtors that can only work after hours and on Saturdays.

Hopefully someone can look into this.

You have two kinds of realtors, those who it is their primary income and those who only see it as a side hustle. The second category type many only sell a house per year, plus there are full time agents back at the firm who they share commissions with. The last investment property I bought I didn't see the realtor until closing, each time I came to town to look at the property, he was not available and his buddy showed us the properties.

i’m surprised most federal employees can hold down one job, much less two. this must be the few go-getters of the bunch.

It's easy when you don't have to do anything for your federal job.

Huh ? My knowledge of real estate agenting isn’t that expansive- but one thing i do know is that most of the actual work occurs on evenings and weekends .

Well that’s the thing. They aren’t working two jobs….just getting paid for two.

Lots of government employees getting arrested and facing fines in MS in recent years for not working during the time they're getting paid to work.

All it takes is for an auditor or higher executive to prioritize the issue.
