secondly, every LSU student pays a golf fee. In my days, it was to the tune of $30+ a semester. LSU realized that if you turn that into a parking lot then you'd lose out on $900,000+ a semester.

That sounds about right. Lsu admin not even aware of a ridiculous golf fee they're bilking students of every semester.

Let's take a vote and find out AFTER that we will lose all of this revenue if we close the course. Imbeciles.

The golf fee, as shown on the second page of this PDF, LINK is $1.25 per semester.
Now there is a sports recreation fee for $155, but I'm sure that goes to a LOT more than golf. They could still get that money even if they shut the course down.

I've played for $20 on a Friday afternoon. Course was pristine for a US juniors golf tourney taking place that weekend.

You have to be willing to look for the deals, not just look for the first tee time that shows up.

I've played several BREC courses for under $10 on a Saturday.

Yeah, the fees were split up differently back in 04. Golf had its own fee and the Rec/fields had their own fee.

I think it was $22 actually, cart included. It was a Hot Deal on Golf Now.

This. I cannot believe people think LSU is the only deal in town. You can play far better courses for great prices around Baton Rouge, if you look for the deals.

I saw a kid drive a cart into the lake on that hole once. They grabbed their clubs and walked to the parking lot, and left.

We found a couple of pieces of lawn equipment in the lakes when it got really dry one year. one of them was the $45k utility truck...

When there was talk of closing the course, some people went to the course and took the signs cause they wanted a reminder of the course. That is why there are no signs on some of the holes. But that does not excuse the fact that they were not replaced.

The best was a thread when everybody told the stories of how they used and abused lsu golf course when they were in school.

Stories about shitting in the ball cleaners and stuff.

Great thread.
