I'm so tired of hearing "it's not about the flag or the National Anthem". The message about social injustice is very clear to most of us. We get THAT! But the method used to convey the message was WRONG! We stand for the National Anthem and we respect our flag...if those who wanted to kneel would have done so prior to or just after the anthem was played it would have been no big deal.
Why don't they wait till right before the kick-off and announce over the loud speaker that we will all kneel to pray for social justice? Way more effective and less likely to ruffle feathers!

The point of doing it during the anthem is symbolic; as well as that is when the cameras are on the teams.

Additionally, the point is to ruffle the feathers. The movement is trying to get people to have tough conversations that have been put off for too long. It was never going to be easy and they know that.

Also, until praying results in tangible results like world peace and no hunger; we you can’t use that as a viable point of action to move the needle.

Brees is a public figure and also a great football player. I don't think you can be one without the other in today's NFL world. He is judged by his abilities on the field and what the people think of what he does or says in the public eye. Unfortunately right now the public's eyes are full of loony libtards who have access to read and to contribute to social media.

I applaud his stance on never disrespecting the flag, and I am not at all surprised that his publicist made him apologize for his stance. He wants a life after playing football and that life will probably be in the public eye. (There is Way too much money to be made there) So if he wants to have that life after playing the game he has to play by the rules of the idiot mob.

Good luck Drew, I will always be a fan.

It doesn’t matter what you actually do, say, or believe, if you go against Trump publicly, all sins are forgiven.

He seems like a nice dude but I have to agree that it doesn’t appear he is too bright. Let’s all remember that this is the guy who got taken for millions by a jeweler. The scam was so outrageous that a court gave him his money back. Who falls for that? If I am buying million of dollars of something, I am going to do enough research to know what I am doing and have an independent review of the value.

As long as you understand that thinking Brees is "tone deaf" is an OPINION, not a FACT. Just like Drew Brees had an OPINION, which is allowed, you are also entitled to your OPINION. And in MY OPINION, you are unable to think for yourself. But that's just MY OPINION

He is trying to get into commentating after his career ends. He was bound to cave to cancel culture. Yes football is his life, but he is thinking about his next career move. It sucks that this all happened, but as soon as trump tweeted at Drew I knew he was going to respond back to him saying basically he doesn’t want trumps support.

So, his next career move is to forever be their bitch, because thats what he allowed to happen. I say its far better to make a stand on what you really believe in, which its clear he believes strong in what he initially said about the flag and taking a knee, than to take a knee and kiss their arse. It’s NEVER going to be worth it.

If you try to please everyone you will please no one. The people wanting him to apologize were never going to accept his apology and they will continue to ostracize him. In caving like he did, he lost all respect of those who supported him. You stand for something or you fall for anything. I think Drew’s a good guy but he should have bowed his back and stood on his own two legs and stuck by his position. This is still America after all and we are still entitled to an opinion

What if he simply realized he messed it up and is trying to do right by himself

Have conversations, but take no accountability. That’ll surely lead to change.
