In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
In the maritime sailors' cathedral
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call 'gitche gumee'
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early
In the maritime sailors' cathedral
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call 'gitche gumee'
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early

Does anyone know where the love of God goes
when the waves turn the minutes to hours
That's the best line in the song. Just fricking brutal.
And on a different note, this line sums it up pretty well, too...
I can see her lyin' back in her satin dress,
In a room where ya do what ya don't confess.

I can picture every move that a man could make
Getting lost in her lovin' is your first mistake

She's been lookin' like a queen in a sailor's dream,
And she don't always say what she really means.
Err...whoops. Gordo's due for some re-education time for that one.

Sometimes I think it's a shame,
When I get feelin better when I'm feelin no pain...

I didn't expect so many of you to be Gordon Lightfoot fans. Maybe the OT isn't as full of retards as I thought it was.

PS:
You choose to voluntarily live in the LandMass.
You do not have the moral high ground on who is smart.

One of the greatest songs of all time, no doubt.
Lightfoot wrote so many...here's one for you fans:
10 Degrees and Getting Colder

Lightfoot is a brilliant storyteller.

Went to the museum in Duluth and it amazed me that the Great Lakes are that deep in some sections. I fished a few sections of that lake with some buddies and it is crystal clear with blueish tint near Duluth. Very beautiful lake with some nice grass beds for smallmouth bass.

Some of the old salts I grew up around knew this poem/song.
Legend has it that a young teen had boarded the boat, but was forced off since he was too young.
