They should hope we move faster than we did with the Iraqis. Reportedly a lot of them got hosed.

Fricking up the end game is the new American way

Vietnam...communist
Afghanistan/Soviet war... Taliban rises in vacuum of power
Desert Storm... Shoulda knocked Saddam out then
OIF... Ill prepared for insugency, let ISIS rise
Afghanistan 2.0... Money pit, terrible tactical decisions, leaving a vacuum of leadership

We should not care at all what happens to any middle eastern country. We have our own oil now.

I don't blame them for invading Afghanistan. It literally hosted the architect of the 9/11 attacks and did so proudly.

I blame all of the presidents from 2003-present for failing to finish the game. But some problems do not have solutions. no one wants to admit quagmire on their watch.

how long until the translators and people that helped Americans get killed for it? I wonder if they'll grant them citizenship or asylum or if that is only for people in the western hemisphere.

They are supposed to be eligible to get SIVs (special immigrant visas).

Only our stupid boondoggle military could spend damn near $100 million on a frickin' runway. Geez.

the lesson from Desert Storm is that we should have gotten rid of Saddam earlier? I dunno.

they've had ample time to get their shite in order and tons of monetary incentives to do so. Hopefully a true leader comes out of the ashes and can bring harmony to the country, but it's not looking promising.

Most of them are like most of us: just trying to get through each day and provide for family. The people making plans do not have their best interest in mind.

Being there I wasn't too butthurt that we turned around but there was a lot of geopolitical shite to consider. We moved much faster than expected and caused more devastation than was expected. The Highway of Death was not exactly a good look.

Note I was way out to the West with the French (As Salman and Tallil) so it was closer to an FTX for us compared to what went on in the East and we didn't see near the death and destruction, we spent most of our time processing prisoners.

Afghanistan will look like pre 9/11 Afghanistan within 6 months and there will be yet another terrorist nation looking to kill Americans again.

We should have wrecked it and walked away from it.

Curious if the Taliban will be able to take over the whole country. My BIL spent a year in the far north up near the border with Uzbekistan and it was completely peaceful. Minimal security and no trouble except for typical third world thievery.
