Yes this has some “Dear Facebook” qualities so move on if not interested

They sent me a check saying we overpaid for taxes. We actually called them and said no we don’t think this is correct and we didn’t want to have to pay something back later. They say no, they are correct and we overpaid.

So we cash it, move on with life and about a year later, get bill for that money PLUS 500 dollars in interest.

Of course I was livid. They kept threatening so had to pay it all first then appeal. Now the cocksuckers deny the appeal and won’t give back the 500 dollars.

WTF? Is there no recourse for them stealing me blind?

Speak to a tax attorney?

Probably will cost more than $500 for them to do anything though.

Learning lesson: this should have been gotten in writing. Or information gathered to hold accountability.

Call the IRS Taxpayer Advocate. This is the stuff they deal with all the time.

877-777-4778

IRS is broken. Everyone says to cut their budget... but this is the end result.

Classic grift. Fleece you for $500 fraudulently knowing it will cost you 10x that to get it back, whether in time or money.

The IRS is like any other customer service business; it depends on who picks up the phone or opens the file. You can request a review of the decision.

We wrote everything down. Who we talked to at the IRS that told us the IRS didn’t overpay us and it was our money, the date, time, everything.

They don’t care
