Any diesel engine manufactured since 2010 has to have it to operate per federal regulations

I worked for one of your competitors around 13 when the tier 4 excavators were rolling out. We had a never ending battle with those regens.

If you had a used tier 3 models to sell, you were making an absolute killing

Price is rising too, I buy the DEF at Walmart for my Duramax 3.0, a year ago it was close to $6 bucks. Now, it's almost $12. Thank goodness the truck doesn't drink much of it.

How do you like the 3.0? We are looking at an SUV with one of those motors.

It has great reviews so I’m assuming there is some kind of VW-style emissions cheat.

You can do that, but then your warranty is voided.

Nothing with starting, but sure as frick supportive of sanctioning an economy we need (thanks to the moving of manufacturing out of the states) while helping prolong a conflict that doesn’t involve us.

If you are looking at tractors, many of the Mahindra models do not need DEF.

You can buy a tune and def delete to get that same mileage out of the consumer diesel engines like what volkswagen did.

You are telling me that there isn’t enough alcohol and urine in the US to make DEF fluid?

In the past several years we’ve seen an absolute explosion of customers electing to rebuild their old pre-tier4 machines instead of replacing them with new. When I say rebuild, I mean they’ll take an old 988 loader, have us tear it down to the bare frame and rebuild it completely. You can still rebuild old engines without having to retrofit them with tier 4 emissions. A lot of folks are taking advantage of that loophole.

It's very hard to get a delete done any longer. FedGov cracked down on companies that did it. If you know how to do it you can do it yourself but its going to void your warranty and you won't be able to get a inspection sticker.

REquire DEF on all diesel engines.
Create a shortage of DEF to increase prices.

This leads to everything particularly food increasing in cost.

Thus putting more pinch on the tax payers.

It's all part of the design and I've gotta say that it's a well crafted plot.

The railroads are doing the same with old locomotives.

Stuff built in the late 90s are getting complete rebuilds as they are modern enough to have the big power and AC traction systems but old enough they don't have the insane emissions requirements.

Tier 4 locomotives have been nothing but problems I understand. Besides being expensive.

Absolutely love it, one of the better motors I've had. 4WD, average 28 or so on the HWY. Best is almost 34 in the flat Delta

Who's familiar with the upcoming reinstatement of the Superfund Excise Tax? This federal tax is back from the dead(1980-1995) as part of the Build Back Better plan. It goes back into effect july 1.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is one of the products directly affected by this tax.

TLDR DEF, among hundreds of other products, are about to get expensive as frick.

Since DEF is 60% water, what would happen if a guy just dumped 100% water in his def tank?

I'm sure it would show so emissions messages but would it at least run versus the no start with an empty DEF tank?
