The Hoarding of Plastic Straws

As we all know ever since the turtle video went viral there has been a renewed push to ban plastic straws. A lot of cities are banning them and more and more restaurants are removing them for paper straws. I've personally noticed that if you don't ask for a straw at a sit down or fast food restaurant you will not get one. I'm sure we can all agree that, whether we agree with it or not, the days of plastic straws in public are nearing an end.
Sure you'll still be able to buy them online and at places like Walmart and party stores, but you won't see any of them at restaurants and a lot of other businesses. While I personally don't care about using a plastic straw for water and soft drinks, they are pretty important to me for mixed drinks like Hurricanes and Daiquiris.
I have personally started to stock up on plastic straws before they are banned. I started about six months ago and whenever I'm at a fast food place I'll grab like 5 or 6.
Now please spare me the "you are stealing" comments. The way I look at it, it's essentially a "straw advance" (yes like a cash advance), getting more straws now knowing I won't be getting any straws when they switch over to paper straws. We all know prices won't go down when they stop giving you plastic straws. If anything they'll probably use paper straws as an excuse to raise prices.
But are any of you doing the same thing? Stocking up on plastic straws before they are banned or simply removed? If you disagree with people doing this, do you base that disagreement on a financial argument (you are raising costs for that business) or a moral argument (you are going to be hurting the environment)?

So I need to add straws to my prepper list?

Considering you can buy a pack of 250 straws from Walmart for $3...you’d be a fricking retard to horde plastic straws

Before any environmental impact, straws are trashy as hell.
Pointless. Just drink out of a glass like an adult.

While I agree with your sentiments of straws being unnecessary for Adults, calling straws trashy seems a bit dramatic Zo’

I only hoard the little tubs of ketchup and hot sauce packets.

So it's trashy to drink from a straw when you are in your car? Well personally I'll risk looking trashy over possibly spilling the drink over myself and/or my interior leather.
I'll agree that when drinking water, coffee or a soft drink I don't use a plastic straw. But you don't use a plastic straw for mixed drinks like rum runners, hurricanes, daiquiris, etc.? To me the straw adds to those drinks, it's just not the same drinking it out of the glass.

At first glance I thought this was a Tiger Ryno thread.

I wouldn't mind if they did this as I just wouldn't open it and take it home unless I was using it for a mixed drink. But the thing is you usually have to ask which I think is a tad ridiculous, especially when going through a drive thru at a fast food place or doing take out at a restaurant.

Put the lid on and suck through the X baw.

I bet restaurants throw away a shite load unused straws because they put them in the drink before giving it to the customer. I usually put them in the drink of someone else so at least it’ll get used.

Do you realize how ridiculous that is? Never mind the fact that those x's weren't designed for drinking. Plus it's hazardous as that requires more of your attention while driving. Please remind us when you're driving and doing that as I don't want to be anywhere near you on the road.

Not all of us have experience at sucking arse baw
