Mate it's my recycling can. I usually don't have it there.

Get Speed Queen. Old school with the knobs. GOAT washer and dryer.

Samsung and LG are the worst dryers on the market.
Disagree on LG. We replaced (albeit fancy, high dollar itself) Kenmore Elite (gas) with a LG ventless and it has been great.
Samsung has earned a reputation for *ahem* "questionable" reliability that I cannot comment on. LG washer/dryers are some of the most reliable appliances on the market.

Look here twin. You an attorney. Go to C&C and buy a Speed Queen combo set. Comes with 7 years warranty and they service them in house.
This is a no brainer.

When we get our forever home, I'll get the SQ (or whatever is the most reliable at that time).

I am. People who ask for help on fixing shite, get a ton of people trying to help (including myself) but then just give up at the slightest hiccup or ghost the thread.
Hey MF, stop wasting everyone’s time if you’ve gonna be a giant vagina and surrender.

Actually, my good sir, the OP is about the decision between paying for repairs vs. buying a new unit.

already ordered a cheap Samsung
The only thing that Samsung makes worth a shite is LCD TVs. We bought a GE commercial top loader from a builder’s supply store (not Lowe’s or HD..actual builders supply) and that things been great thus far. That’s with two teenage boys and my wife doing laundry every day.

My washer dryer pair is still going strong a decade later. Not bad for a $1600 investment

You’re right.

was in a similar situation 2-3 years back. called up an appliance handyman i trust. He told me dryers can pretty easily be fixed (most models); washing machines aren’t worth it. Just chalk up the loss and buy a new one.
Seems like you made the right decision.

I fixed my pump with a $28 part. Name brand too. Could have gotten a Chinese no name one for even less off Amazon. $18.

My repairman told me to keep my 20 year old whirlpool going no matter what? I've probably spent $400 in repairs over the years on it, including replacing the gears.

Basic repairs on washers and dryers should be a must have skill for functioning men. Can you turn the water off? Can you unhook the hoses? Can you turn the washing machine on its side? If yes to all, here’s the hardest part. Can you YouTube and find similar issues with the model you have? If so >90% chance your issue could be fixed with basic tools and <30 minutes of work. Hardest part was unhooking everything and moving the appliance to a workable spot.
I’ve extended the life on my washer and dryer many years with basic repairs. Thanks YouTube and basic common sense

As I said, the way the layout is, it's ridiculously tight. I live in an old (100+ year old) house that wasn't built for laundry rooms and it's a PITA.

Do you lads understand that many of us care about aesthetics? My washer and dryer are in an area that people see, so I need them to look good.

Sir, this is the OT on TD. Try the Wendy’s next door.

For my washing machine the surrounding case tilts backwards to the floor once you unscrew a few screws. The entire guts stands upright to work on. No turning it on it’s side.
