I'm actually going to try to make it to the office tomorrow. Can anyone tell me if I'll run into any trouble in I10 from 73 to corporate? Is anything still closed?

yeah I made the comment that I was glad I'm not a gun owner. really shows the trash of the parish, we were launching boats and people were pulling out of line to drive to the front to snap pbotos. then they would try to back out.

those hold about 3,000 lbs each so it's not that easy to just have a bunch of them in place instantly. One bag is basically 60 sandbags in one.

Give yourself some extra time beacause 73 has been congested for the past few days. You should have no problems with I-10, it's been very light the past few days.

I realize that. Was just hoping that picture wasn't taken after they were finished/ had given up.

Those sand bags are still sitting precariously on the edge of where the road is giving way though.

The rest of them likely washed out. At 2600-3000 lbs each stacked side by side, thats about 36-40,000 Lbs every 20ft or so. A lot of weight on a little asphalt road on top of soggy ground.

Is Range in Denham back open?

"The second greatest tragedy in this whole catastrophe is the fact that in the Baton Rouge area only 12 percent of the residences had flood insurance in place,"
'' It is astounding that only 39 % of homeowners across New Orleans have flood insurance.''
said Donelon.
I have a feeling that a mandatory flood insurance is coming for all LA.

I was wondering about that, because the video in the second link where he states there are more sand bags in the roadway is from yesterday, yet the picture he posted he says is from this evening.

I've haven't been able to check stuff tonight. I've heard there is a boil advisory in Ascension. Is that true? Also, is i-10 open both ways yet? Airline going 4 lanes?
I'm sure this has been answered a ton, just searched back a few pages and didn't see.

How is it at hwy30 and Bayou Paul Ln?
Posted on 8/16/16 at 10:43 pm to TigerinPurgatory
I drove 30 from EBR to Berthelot's around 7 tonight. Headwaters of Bayou Manchac (EBR/Iberville border) was about 3 feet below road. Businesses along road did not have any water in them and only a little water in ditches.
Went about a half mile up Bayou Paul road from 30 and it was dry and no significant water off to the side of the road.
Went into UClub and the water levels nearest to Manchac were about the same as they were yesterday when I checked it out (if anything, the water seemed a little lower).

With everything being under water, and your utility company not being able to assess the damage to the distribution system, you're best served to just go ahead and boil it until you know for a fact it's safe. I work in water treatment, so I do have some knowledge on this type of thing...

Jarlaxle,
I drove down 931 to leaders to deliver some supplies today. Was fairly deep, I was in a Sequoia and was ok.

I have not heard anything on the news or any online news source yet. I would imagine this is something they would get out quickly and loudly.

Entergy may cut power to 9500 homes, including your parents' if water keeps ridingbstvtheir station at Roddy and Airline. Hope it has stopped.
WTF, Entergy? Why was this station not sandbagged earlier? I could've gotten volunteers to make a freakin Fort Knox of sandbags if we'd had known this might happen.
