"The second greatest tragedy in this whole catastrophe is the fact that in the Baton Rouge area only 12 percent of the residences had flood insurance in place,"
'' It is astounding that only 39 % of homeowners across New Orleans have flood insurance.''
said Donelon.

I have a feeling that a mandatory flood insurance is coming for all LA.

It's a federal program, so I think it would have to apply to all fifty states. I don't think a federal mandate can target one particular state.

Entergy won't cut the power as long as bayou Francois stays at the level it's at.

The gage at the corner of the Pelican Point and Pelican Crossing neighborhoods leveled off and started a very very slow rise. It has gone up an inch since around 11 PM. Anyone who lives in those two neighborhoods should keep a watch. If it starts to rise quickly you may not have much time to get out.

The gage updates at 13 past the hour.

Gage for reference

I have family in Pelican Point. Are they trapped by water right now as far as getting into and out of neighborhood?

No. The rise has been incredibly slow. The roads are clear on 44 and river road. I haven't checked 22.

I just drove through the pelican point area on my way to work. The entire area from the sunshine bridge to the interstate looks normal.
