This depends on a number of factors: 1) how fast the Amite at Manchac Point recedes; 2) how fast the water can get under the I-10 bridge; and 3) how much more water the Spanish lake basin can hold.
My guess is that the Spanish Lake basin can handle most of the water. But the water in BF really doesn't have to rise much more to cause flood problems for some people (those between Highland and Burbank, for instance.) The gauge at Bluebonnet is already over 15 ft. And that water and the water above it will have no where to go for a while.

Hey guys. My grandparents are in Old Dutchtown and have no idea how to to get any information. They have never used the internet before and last I talked to them they brushed off the ideas of any problems. I hear the area around them in Alligator Bayou was going up fast. They probably would not leave, so it would be up to us to get them if they need to get out.

thanks for responding. Being in springlake area, we are watching closely.

BF is receding at Burbank/Highland and Bluebonnet/Highland.
It is going to a be a slow process but has a nice little flow to it.

I am driving up from New Orleans and have 6 trucks filled with supplies and have a few hundred bowls of jambalaya we can cook, where should we go?

Check one of the shelters like Celtic Studios or maybe the rivercenter if they still have people.

I noticed that this morning too
last night around 7:30, judging by water marks on the cement, looks like it had dropped about 6 inches
I am off bluebonnet, just south of highland

Bayou Manchac @ I-10. I'm on mobile so I can't really tell if there is any visual receding noticeable in the grass.

AP finally added to disaster list

They just spoke about this on WAFB. Water noticeably dropping at I-10 between BR and prairieville.
Also breaking news per WAFB, more parishes approved as federal disasters. 12 total now

This Bluebonnet gauge (if it is to be believed) shows a drop of only 5/100s of a foot since early Monday morning. That is a good sign, but I would still be watching it closely if I lived in that area.

We are going to drop off all the supplies at Lamar Dixon, but Red Cross won't let us cook. Any other recommendations?

I live at the Lakes at Bluebonnet
From my eye, looks like we have about 5-7 feet to go before things start to get intense
