Good question. This is a really interesting situation. A tropical like low gaining strength over land. PWAT totals at record levels for days. I'm all weather nerd and get excited to see the power of a hurricane spinning in the ocean, but oddities like this system are just as interesting.

South Central Texas has had 2 similar events with a low pressure system being fed by the Gulf just spinning for 48+ hours in the last 20 years. In 98 they called it a 100 year flood with large areas getting 25 to 30" then only 4 years later they called it a 500 year flood with areas of over 36". I'll never forget 3000 Sq foot homes floating down the river in New Braunfels. Saying some prayers for our neighbors to the east.

I'm not sure about getting to Central but Greenwell Springs Rd is completely shut down all the way through last I saw. Hopefully you don't need to take it.

Eta: also looks like Hooper is closed at Sullivan.

The 16z GFS is still calling for another 15 inches. I think it is too high but even another 4-8 inches, which seems to be the average of most models, is going to be enough to cause a lot more issues, especially as the rivers fill.

That is pretty much in line with the 12z Euro. The Euro is still supported by the EPS... There is pretty good support for another 10-15"+ over the same area. It will be interesting to see the upcoming 00z & 12z soundings out of New Orleans. The setup hasn't really changed from yesterday and WPC upgraded tomorrow to High Risk. This really sucks.

Here's the 100 year flood map. Given the circumstances and what's predicted to come, the data says we're looking at possibly a 500 year flood. Tiger Stadium will be underwater.

I still don't believe it... this would be worst case scenario.
