The Spanish Lake area (big blue swath of low land between Highland Road and Bluff Road in map; along with same elevation in Iberville and Ascension Parish) has to provide some buffer from backwater flooding in the Bayou Fountain watershed. The volume of water required to make the water level rise several feet would be way more than the backwater volume for areas very close to the Amite.

I'm not an expert, but just my opinion that Bayou Fountain around LSU / Bluebonnet will not be as bad as seen earlier today around O'neal.

Are people able to get hotel rooms covered by insurance? I'm thinking of offering my hotel points to FB friends but I'm wondering if people are covered. Is it only those with flood insurance?

It does not so it would be awesome of you to help them out and give them one less thing to worry about right now.

This may be why it is taking a long time for backwater flooding to occur in LSU/Bluebonnet. I imagine that area is pouring in with water.

Just looked, appears stable. Confirmed by another poster via pic.

Let's hope that was it and most of it went south to Spanish Lake where it is very low and no homes

Baton Rouge Traffic ?@BR_Traffic I-12 is now open from Juban to I-55 in both directions. I-12 remains closed from Airline to Juban in both directions. don't think BRPD knows this... nor do they recommend it

I-12 is CLOSED in both directions in walker. Just saw it on wafb live news. They showed the live camera. That tweet is incorrect

The north west side of Woodland Ridge had water up to the slab on the high end and just getting into the house on the low end. That was around 3:00. Water was rising fast all afternoon.
