Dude, if you feel you're in danger, and can evacuate safely, then do it. But make sure you are able to drive safely and make sure whoever you're going is actually drier than you are. Sometimes it is safer to stay where you are and get a little wet than to risk everything driving through unknown waters.
But trust your gut, don't listen to Internet strangers.

Anyone know if Woodlands/Cottages on Ben Hur are flooded?

My parents live in Dutchtown near 73/74 (old mill). Are they at risk now?
Impossible to answer. If they don't have water in the streets I think they are fine. I remember those houses being 2-3ft above the street

I will say this... the theoretical maximum for backwater flooding is all the way up to Terrace and Highland, LSU/Tiger Stadium, and event the Garden District.
Might have been addressed earlier, but have not seen it. With all this talk of backwater, has it been discussed whether water is likely to cause issues in the neighborhoods around LSU (e.g., Southdowns, University Hills, College Town, Riverbend, etc.)...

My SO said her friend texted her who lives in Old Mill and they're getting water in their house. I'm on Highland Dr. Off 74 next to Harvest Supermarket and I'm good for now but getting worried.

Trying to decide if I should stay in Dutchtown (Rivergate subdivision just south of hwy 73/74 intersection), or head west on 74 to my inlaws in the Universtiy Club. Thoughts?
River gate is just behind Old Mill right? Where is the water to?

Are you in Hickory Ridge?
ETA: Is anyone in Hickory Ridge? FIL and his GF are on Willowridge, and we haven't heard from them in a few hours. They're sitting up pretty high, but so were a lot of others who took on water this weekend. Prayers for all of those, lost everything I owned in Katrina, and this has that same type of feeling.

did they have power on millerville? i have family near avalon who we lost touch with we think bc the power went out. water wast in their house as of 12:00 but not sure now
I'm not sure about power. They had national guard type vehicles on Millerville and school buses, looked like people were being evacuated. The hot spot with people waiting was the Rotolos which was serving food.

No, I'm in the coursey/stumberg area, praying the 100 year flood maps are accurate.

I already lost my house. At my parents now, trying to figure what we should do

Duke--you're practically neighbors with my mom as well. Is it bad on profit? How high is the water in the houses do you think?

This was Bayou Fountain at Bluebonnet at 2:25. Water was flowing in the right direction, albeit slowly.

For real? I'm in old mill and there may be a few inches of water around some of the drains but there's virtually nothing in the streets.
