The before and after flood maps after they redraw them are going to be very interesting to compare.

I don't get this Hearing this from everyone I know these past 2 days. My parents nearly died over it.
There is nothing you can do as a human to save your house from a flood.

Millerville between I-12 and Old Hammond is a lake. The Lowe's, Best Buy and Target are all likely dealing with water in the stores.

At 1:00, the gauge right by Manchac that will show the backflow first, that has been backflowing for several hours now, is at 20 feet.
That is at the right red x on this map.
Now look on the left red X, this is the water levels. They are flowing west so we need to be prepared for an additional 6-7 feet along Bayou Fountain.

What will determine how long this backwater flooding will last?
The location of the particular tributary to the Amite River and the crest of the Amite River as it moves south.
Areas like Santa Maria or even the University Club won't see the worst of it until Monday afternoon as the crest moves south of Bayou Manchac. Basically the Bayou Fontain and Bayou Manchac waterways aren't out of the woods until the crest moves south.

This makes me furious as an elite with them. When are your flights this week? I want to help you out and get them to remove that change fee
United and Southwest were angels. American dragging arse and sending me to stupid links such as their "travel alert" page where BR is not listed as an emergency waiver area. Claiming they know of no such weather issue.
The flight is Friday from LAX to BTR. It is canceled, but I'm sitting on a $200 change fee for now.

The only good thing for Bayou Fountain / Ward's Creek is that the distance from the Amite River is much greater for the backwater to travel compared with Jones Creek and Claycut Bayou.
I hope this makes the event less severe than Oneal Lane / Tiger Bend.

Any insight on what northern Ascension could expect?
Posted on 8/14/16 at 1:52 pm to supernovasky
There are going to be a lot of job losses & job relocation outside of La associated with this flooding event. the economic hit is going to be bad for us
Posted on 8/14/16 at 1:52 pm to slackster
Not only that, but areas further upstream could still be rising even after the crest at Manchac. That flood wave is going to equalize before it recedes. And it could be a very slow fall too...
