BR & Surrounding areas 10-15" of rain expected through the middle of next week
It's not that difficult to dissect what's going on. EBR Parish engineer should be giving the warning. I don't blame the folks living on Burbank or Essen for not paying attention to the Amite River. How would they know?
I think you are very right. Look at how far these reports are coming in from the Amite. It will be EASY for the Amite to backflow all the way to even LSU Campus given what we are seeing.

Can you give me those rough ideas? I may be able to gauge where they are and sort of tell you kind of if they are near water.
Finally got an address.

People think DS and Central start seeing falling waters and they think they are safe and they aren't.
I fought the 77 flood and the 83 flood and it's shocking how extensive the backwater flooding was. This is going to be a lot worse and people along Ckaycut and Bsyou Fiuntain and Manchac have no clue.
And then it's Ascension's turn.
Study this thing and learn. It us an amazing freak of nature.

Anyone live in the area that can comment?
I just drove close to that area and there was barely any standing water. There was some standing water at George O'Neal and Antioch and passable standing water a few intersections down. I drove all the way through Shenandoah to Lake at White Oak before hitting the bridge by the lakes which is impassable.

I just went to the entrance by kabobs and didn't go any further. I turned around and went to the entrance at Confederate. Water was crossing at low spot at Green Trails. Didn't want to chance it, but I was trying to make a circle to look at Coursey/Jones Creek.

If that floods, it will be when Manchac starts back flowing into Ward and Dawson creek. I'm not sure how fast it's moving. My guess is sometime in the early morning hours it will start.

Cop just stalled his patrol car out in the water on Harris Drive near Sherwood (I think). Dispatcher sounded pissed.

The water is on Tiger Bend. Once you turn on to Green Trails, it's dry. That area is literally eight to ten feet higher than Tiger Bend.

Yep. There's a low spot between Parkside and Tiger Bend...and Tiger Bend is of course low.

I'm hitting a brick wall folks. I'm going to grab a smoke and keep posting as late as possible, but I've got a 1 year old. Why do I do this to myself... haha... I hope you guys find me useful.

Well hopefully I'm just a dumb engineer and it ends up not being nearly as bad. Bedtime for me, so I'll find out in the morning.
