Salary and the boss: "Why are you not here?"
Hourly and the boss: "Why are you still here?"

In the hotel industry unless you’re a department director I’d rather be hourly. OT is great and while managers may have the title the hours are ridiculous plus no OT

Salary......Hourly is just trashy
I lobbied for salary for mid level managers once in a job and got it. Came to regret it instantly because my pay went down and hours went up.

You don't do that on salary without some form of compensation for it.
Oh I don't doubt that

I work over 40 hours a week a lot of times, but I can get bonuses on projects and we have a lot of variable comp and the more you produce the higher that is.
I get paid O.T. for every hour after 40 and also bonus on projects
I'm somewhere in between hourly and salary. Not all of our hourly guys are bonus eligible.

both have their advantages
hourly, you get OT for extra hours worked.but, you get docked for time missed.
salaried, no OT for extra hours but, don't get docked for missed time.

Best for most of career: CEO with all the extra $$ in your pocket.
Best to slowly move towards retirement: Salaried.
Hourly is basic.

Right about now I’m wishing I was hourly

Since I rarely have to stay past the 8 hour mark, I wish I was salary. I have doctor appointments pretty regularly for cancer follow ups and it would be nice to just be able to go to the appointment without having to clock out or use other time.

I’m salary and can’t remember the last time I worked a full 40

I have a fairly routine office type job. Been salaried for years but about 9-12 months ago HR decided to make many of our full-timers hourly for whatever reason. Only upper level/directors are salaried now and every mid-level (like myself) went ot hourly.
At first I kinda hated it, I felt like it was a demotion in a way. And having to clock in and out took me back to my first days with a job working part time. But as I've gotten used to it I hope I never go back to salary (at this job I mean) because of the overtime. OFten times I'll have to work some thigns on weekends or have meetings in the evenings, and you better believe I'm clocked in for that. I make a lot more now as an hourly than I did salaried. Now if they took away the overtime I might not like it as much.

tell that to an ER Doc who makes $220/HR not including benefits/bonus
Wrong. An ER doc is around $133/hour. A pimple poppin' doc makes more hourly at $187/hour.

Salary + Commission.
Get paid if you work or not. Get paid more if you work and perform well.

That's not a routine office job having all that after hours work.
