Can't do that anymore thanks to Trump's tax hikes. Maybe you guys should know what you are voting for next time.

Sure, but never has there been a time where more people are paying over $1k for car notes. And wages are not increasing that fast.

Throw inflation into the mix causing people to put basic household necessities on 20%+ interest credit cards, the fact that 2 of every 3 families are living paycheck to paycheck, and you have a recipe for disaster in another year or two when the CCs are maxed and there is nowhere left to get that money from.
When it all comes unraveled it will happen fast and it will be ugly.

WE’RE going to be so screwed when they age out of the workforce…. FIFY

don’t think for a second that the DemonCrats won’t take care of them at the expense of the responsible citizens… they have already floated the idea of means testing social security to eliminate benefits for “wealthy” people that have 401k’s and other savings…

I won't do more than $500 a month on a car payment.

As we should be. And eliminating the cap.

But those would work to save Social Security, so Republicans won't do that.

The contribution cap is not the issue- fine raise it…. They are trying to reduce BENEFITS based on other accumulated assets. Responsible people work and plan around have a certain SS benefit, then have that amount reduced because they saved elsewhere instead of driving the new F-250….
Typical government logic

Social security is a Ponzi scheme.

It’s fcking killing me thinking about these prices

Some drunk fricktard totaled our parked car, and we had no choice but to bite the bullet about a year ago.

Used cars were not much cheaper (if at all cheaper) than new at that time. And inventory was low.

I paid 43,000 for my Tundra in 21, dealership has offered to buy it back multiple times since I paid it off for not much less than that.

Was car shopping for my wife yesterday and they tried to sell us a Jeep Gladiator for 63,000.

My five-year monthly car payment was $150. Put $10K cash down.

Absolutely not. What an absolutely idiotic thing to say. If you paid in to social security, you should get that back.

They should let people opt out from paying in to it.

smart people buy cheap cars, focus on early retirement, then buy new vehicles

I’ve bought every vehicle I’ve ever owned with cash. Idk if that’s a good thing or not to be honest.

I needed a new vehicle during Covid and bought a Nissan Frontier work truck for $7000 It was the first vehicle I’ve ever owned that had a backup camera or Bluetooth. I will drive this thing until it dies on me.

I’m psychotically cheap when it comes to luxuries for myself but I do not understand folks today and their car notes. I had a roommate a couple years ago paying just under $700 to LEASE a fricking Camry. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I’m 38, and have been married with kids for 13 years. I have only bought 2 vehicles since being married and 3 total. Gonna make it 4 soon due to work requirements but I’m currently driving a 10 year old vehicle which was the first we bought as a married couple after my 16 year old truck that I bought new and paid off in 4yrs died on me not too long ago.

You aren’t crazy. It’s a legitimate way to keep costs down and build wealth.

Wait, you think people should pay into social security and never get their money back?
