Nurse posted a book on people who were killed in the Grand Canyon. There is a story about a guy who was trying to play a joke on his daughter by hiding to make her think he fell and when he was trying to hide.. He fell.

Midas Whale, far as I know the colorado river doesn't even reach the sea anymore, dries up a few miles from its former delta.

The South Rim has a ton of trails and hikes that lead down to the bottom of the canyon. These trails are hiked by thousands of people each year.

I also hiked to the bottom at the south rim. I didn't spend too much time at the main lookout area, but the time I did spend there, I didn't see a ton of marked trails. You can pretty much go wherever you want.

People are stupid. It’s not that hard to avoid falling into a canyon. Why a 70 year old woman is wandering off the path is beyond me.

have you ever been? It’s definitely not that hard to fall over the edge there

This. The canyon edge isn’t like you see in the cartoons with an abrupt drop. There is a path to different lookouts, but most doesn’t have rails and you can easily walk and explore a good bit off the trail. It might flat, May have some boulders to walk on.

But as you get closer, there might be a two foot drop to a flat section that just looks like a big step then maybe a 10’ step decent, then a flat area, then a 200’ foot drop.

Its not too difficult to stumble on that first section and never regain balance if you’re not careful.

1. Suicidal.
2. Not dealing from full deck. Physical and judgement.

Some of that.

Of all the dangerous gorges to fall in, the grand canyon might be the easiest to avoid.
