I'm also probably more racist, and more selfish than most.
That said, I think its very important that we figure out what is best for property values, and quality of life before you take a hard stand either way.
This is a good issue to go into open-minded.
IMO, and may very well be wrong, this would turn BR into a garbage dump. Who wants to live next to a garbage dump? Bad smells and rats tend to come out of dumps too.
I'll keep reading.

I'm not sure what it would do for BR city property values, but I suspect not much.
They'll have the same school system they have now, but removing the SG residents from the BRHS pool will increase the remaining students' chances of getting into an A rated school.
You make a good point about "how will this affect BR city?".
I'm not sure BR would completely collapse, and I haven't seen any proof that will happen.
However, encouraging young people and families to remain in EBR parish (by providing the SG ISD) would probably help keep commerce in baton rouge vs those people leaving for better education opportunities in Zachary or Ascension.
Those families would live and spend their money in EBR parish.
You'd have to look at previous examples of incorporation as a benchmark for what you can expect from SG.

If BR has such great schools and such great leadership and a great bond rating and really don't receive that much money from the unicorporated area seeking to incorporate into its own city then why is it such a big deal to these city leaders and the people who live in the city of BR? Why are they calling half the city racists because of where they live? Why don't they want these people to vote?

If SG had quality schools, nothing would change from the status quo of today.
If I were a young professional or family, and I were looking for a place to live in or around Baton Rouge, education would be a major issue.
Here are your choices:
1) Live in Zachary, Ascension and guarantee your kids attend an A+ rated school. (Even Livingston has B+ schools).
2) Roll the dice that my kid gets into BRHS (which is a terrific school) instead of getting stuck with a C, D, or F rated school.
3) Attend the decent neighborhood elementary schools and have to move the Zachary or Ascension later on.

People making decisions with bad information can be much worse than no decision at all.
I'm not referring to this situation. Just food for thought.
I think the area has a right to decide for themselves if they go about it legally. But I also think they need to realize they're not getting all the facts from either side.
