Mrs. Winterton is currently trifling. She’s about to putest her false assumptions to the test and then discover the truth of the world as it is.

Also, the main creator/writer isn’t gay. Married for for 40+ years.

I have taken umbrage with a gay character and black individual being main leads. It’s not that they didn’t exist at that time. They did.

But they also weren’t involved with the high society depicted here. Their presence and prominence in the story is wrong from a purely historical perspective. Don’t mind them, they’re just misplaced.

This is a false statement. There certainly was a black aristocracy after the Civil War and during the Gilded Age. The writer chick in the show is based on several real people from that day and age.

Absolutely. Reconstruction era Black aristocracy was a real thing.

Not sure how much they were in New York.

The Great Migration brought plenty of black people to New York and the Northeast.

Who were hanging out and living next door and influencing the Astors, Vanderbilts, and McAllisters?

GTFO.

I’m saying those people existed. Their prominence in the series is exaggerated based on reality.

You know me based on MTV board. I don’t suffer racism or bitching about wokism. It’s abhorrent. I’m simply saying the placement here is shoehorned to the actual main story playing out due to modern sensitivities.

there was actually a black aristocracy BEFORE the civil war. In New Orleans.
