I work for a fortune 250 company that has been around for over 150 years...

100% of the workforce of this global company, could be done remotely and currently about 65% of it is being done hybrid

Even the Military works a hybrid schedule, so I'm interested in hearing rebuttals to that

What if I told you that you could do both?

Exactly, I've worked from home for 13 years now and I'd bet I'm more social than most of these people who use the social interaction argument vs remote work. I don't need work for social engagement, I have a social life outside of work.

Absolutely. I still interact with the people I want to on a regular basis even though we are nowhere near each other.

If your job can be done from home, it can also be done from Bangladesh.

As a manager if you come to me with that complaint, I will grant your wish. Trust me.

As a highly skilled worker, if you choose to grant that wish, a more dynamic, growing company will snatch me up right away.

By the way, I am 59, and work for one of the fastest growing financial services companies in the United States.

And we are hiring lots of remote workers,

This is a lame argument b/c what it misses is that a huge percentage of WFH jobs , probably 40 or 50%, are jobs where you dont have an *office* to report to but you visit customers “in the field” and then you work from your home office the rest of the time…. maybe youre in sales or in service, and maybe you see 2 customers a day, maybe you see 10 customers a day but it’s literally impossible to do that from Bangladesh .

Yup, I can tell you firsthand that one of the biggest drivers for people to come to us over our bigger competitors is that they can’t stand having to interact with reps in Asia that may or may not being employees of our competitors. With us, they know they are speaking with someone from the US who is in the US. My position isn’t a WFH but we have plenty of people who are and everyone discloses where they are working from if asked by our customers over the phone.

Employees in third world dumps with $5 a day salaries and sensitive personal information is just a recipe for disaster.

I'll ask you what I asked earlier in this thread that received zero response, are you gonna send 3 Indians to meet with executive level stakeholders to determine the parameters of system changes that need to be made?

Our contracts with clients prohibit work from being done overseas due to the sensitive nature of the data that we work with.

Hosting your VM farm in the Cont. US, gets around that rule...

Sure they will .
Just like you only buy American made products . I don’t care what you do and if you want to work from home . Those stating you can’t be replaced by someone somewhere else are living in a fantasy land . I wish everyone could WFH but in my experience 4/5 aren’t performing up to expectations when they do.
