The First Minutes After The Dinosaurs Went Extinct

66 million years ago today, a giant asteroid traveling through the solar system at 45,000 mph crossed the 60-mile thick earth's atmosphere in a mere 3 seconds and smashed into the Gulf of Mexico with the force of a billion Hiroshima bombs almost wiping out all plant and animal species on this planet.

If that happened today and Yucatan was hit us LA baws would die pretty quick. Probably for the better because it means less suffering though

Sounds like everyone would. Would need some serious underground means to survive the broiling temps. Wild video, never knew several of these things.
Asteroid size/speed causing so much friction pushing through atmosphere that the ocean water vaporizes before impact - I can’t even wrap my brain around that.
Projectile debris from impact travels so fast the atmosphere can’t catch it, hits the moon - my head hurts.

We do? Growing up, the big question was what caused the extinction. I think scientists settled on the meteorite theory Bc they got tired of thinking about it.
