They used to. Back when all of the NOPD was on steroids.
All the cops I see now here look like 2 tons of chewed arse and fat. Sloppy, fat, and stupid.
Most of them barely look like they can read. Funniest thing now is, they're the highest paid cops in the state.

There isn't much incentive for these clowns to get in shape.
If I was the chief, I'd have them doing 5-3-1 at the station before their shifts.
No lift, no badge/gun. I'd have those clowns cleaning up the trash when they aren't cuffing perps.

I have a BIL on HPD. 20 yr vet. Dude is 5'10 and 210 and looks like Kurt angle. He works out like a beast. I would not eff with him.

You gots a link for that? I know they used to lose tons of their ranks due to other departments, especially Jefferson Parish and Kenner, paying them more.
The others didn't even have a police academy, the liked taking NOPD after the did the academy and got a few years of experience.

Believe lsp us highest paid in state. While at the Academy and for your first year you're around 48. After 1 year, you get kicked up to 50/51.
Lsp kills it in ot and with their detail escorts. I'll take an escorts all day at $40 an hour over standing at a bar on Bourbon for $25
Also, jpso runs their own training academy.
Edit: nopd and other non state officers receive state sup pay after 1 year of service. Gets them an extra $500 a month for being post certified.
