Can't wait to see these Ford Lightning baws stranded in East Texas when they overestimated their range while pulling a 21' bass boat.

I dont understand people who are resistant to change… that is literally the ONLY constant in life- Change… i feel like if you fight change and try to stay stuck in the past, then life passes you by, you get left behind and you become bitter .

Or...you could realize the infrastructure for full scale Electronic cars is decades away from being ready and that this is nothing more than a farsighted attempt to hamfist change, instead of a gradual progression as the infrastructure permits. Take that shite to Reddit.

Not something I would remotely consider. I will drive a fossil fuel truck as long as I can find fuel for it.

Absolutely zero desire to drive an EV.

I would be interested if not for the sh!t towing range.

That’s totally deal breaker for baws with boats.

this would be great for 90% of my driving. Just plug it in at home every night. The other 10% makes the 90% not worth it. Would be a total pain in the arse.

Isn't this the truck that can feel the additional weight and automatically adjust the towing range based on that?

Pretty ingenious work around.

Range is probably 40 miles. Then 8 hours recharge time. Move to the lake is your best option if you buy this.

Or... you could realize that today's infrastructure can actually support a whole lot of EVs, and that where infrastructure upgrades are needed it will happen hand-in-hand with EV adoption. Anything near 90% adoption will take decades, sure, but if everyone waits around for the infrastructure to be built before buying an EV, it will never happen.

Boats are not all that heavy, I'd guess range will be 200+ with a bass boat.

No. A 21' boat plus trailer is what, 3-5k lbs? Less than half the truck's tow capacity. Sticking by 200+ miles of range while towing this as opposed to ~320 towing nothing.

Livingston Parish is considering banning them. They're concerned at what the lack of catalytic converters will do to their economy.

I think I prefer the Hummer EV, but that thing is way more expensive.

The Ford F-150 Lightning and the Silverado EV look like they are closer to competing with a Tesla Cybertruck (if that thing ever comes out) in price and capability. Meaning they are closer to a traditional truck rather than an off road toy like the Hummer EV.

I hope the best for Ford. But if I'm getting an EV, I'm probably getting a Tesla Cybertruck.

I'm leaning that way too. Like many others I thought it was ugly at first, but it's grown on me. It's no more out there than a DeLorean.

The 27’ world cat I used to own begs to differ. Fully loaded with ice and 240 gallons of fuel that beast weighed in close to 10,000 lbs. put my F250 diesel in its place. Thankfully tongue weight wasn’t bad with the triple axle trailer. Boats over 25’ belong in a lift imo. Will never trailer one that big again on a regular basis.

Went from a 21' bass boat to a twin outboard offshore rig.

27' boat is an extreme example but within the towing capacity for the Lightning. My point being that even with the little 21' bass boat, trailer and all of the gear you're gonna be 5k+ for weight and that is putting the range at or around 200 miles. My favorite numbers lake to finish in Texas is 100 miles away and I consider that lake fairly close compared to Sam Rayburn (130 mi+), Toledo Bend (160 mi) or Fork (210 mi.)

Maybe my example is extreme but you travel quite a distance to fish in Texas for the big name lakes.
