rue story. I lived with a DKE in college and he told me that they have a continuous cycle. 1)They do something to get kicked off campus. 2)They are eventually allowed back on Campus. 3)They start with minimal hazing the first year back. 4)The hazing gets a little worse each year. 5)They escalate it to the point of being kicked off campus again. Rinse and Repeat.

This is a little different, in that their nationals washed their hands of them. And while DKE has a reputation of having wealthy, well connected alums who can go to bat for them, that no longer seems true based on the low rent PI lawyer who's their alumni president.

Yea, you’re right. I’m defending the Greek system as a whole, but it appears DKE May have gotten what they deserved.

Maybe another fraternity stuck on Sorority row can take over their house.

Isn't the point that everything is hazing? That's what your "evidence" suggests.

If done right teaching young college punks how to follow before leading is invaluable. Which is something I learned, and thankful for it. Humbling experience I wouldn't go back, and change.

Funny how all the negas come around, and dont notice the 3 fingers pointing back at them. Easy to talk negative about something they have no real clue about.

Not comparing to military, but not many different types of tactics the military uses if done right. I guarantee you that no one would think stuff I had to do was "weak sauce." Gay shite crosses the line, and would have walked out. That not being apart of it was promised to us going in. "No one wants to see or touch your little boy private parts, so definitely report to your pledge master" Top of a short list "not acceptable stuff" though. That was reviewed with the brothers too.

Mind games mixed with testing ones physical ability can definitely help change a young man who hasnt been forced too. Humbles the small town "hs football star".

Beta pussies, and cocky "shite dont stink" wannabe alphas get washed out.

I really hope you are still in college cuz everything you typed is a load of crap.

When I was in a fraternity in college, I believed that same indoctrinated nonsense that you just typed out.

When you grow up and take a step back, you see things for what they really are.

A fraternity is a fun social club. Thats it. They arent anything more than that.

There is no need to weed out the weak, humble the HS star, or any other BS that you are trying to claim as necessary.

The issue comes from 19-22 year olds thinking they are a part of something far more important than a fraternity actually is.

When you get into the real world, no one gives a shite what fraternity you were a part of and what type of pledge process you went through. No matter how you try to justify it, serious hazing isn't good for anyone.

You are correct about the military using it to humble people but drunk 19-22 year olds aren't drill Sargents and don't have the training or restraint to effectively execute hazing for the purpose you describe.

Serious hazing, forcing drinking to the point of death trashing campus spots, making offensive signs shouldn’t be “part of the the college experience”

Some of the signs were pretty damn funny.

Making offensive signs was one of the only positives that the DKEs added to the gameday experience.

I didn't have strong enough magician skills to be a TKE unfortunately.

Yep. Because they are "social elites", according to a member in this thread.

I stand by that they are social inept losers cowards that stroke each other's ego, and pretend that they are relevant.

Nope.

Not even as a ditch digger.

I think you are just as misinformed calling them losers as they are calling themselves socialites.

The reality is that they are college kids that are looking for a party. If you took the partying away, no one would join a fraternity.

I enjoyed my time in a fraternity at LSU and met some of my best friends there. But we didn't go to war together so there was no need for the hazing nonsense we went through.

One of the best Pledge activities that we went through together was a scavenger hunt throughout BR and New Orleans. We had to find a ton of items as a group and had to rely on one another. No one was forced to drink anything and no one was beaten or humiliated. It was fun and it was team building.

This thread points out the negatives of fraternities but there are tons of positives as well.

If we could get the idiots to realize that hazing as a form of torture is dangerous and unnecessary, then the positives of these social clubs can remain intact.

Very, very different standards. You see all of the branding done on black fraternities is voluntary

Agreed, but the should have developed some sense of self-worth to say I’m out if this is what DKE life is all about.

Pretty spot on. We aren't training the fratsters to go into combat so I don't really see the need to haze pledges along the lines of DI's drilling recruits. Maybe a little is ok, but it is real hard for a 19-22 year old dip shite dude in college to know how not to cross that line. So, I am all for none at all even though my pledge class got hazed pretty bad when I pledged. Shite that would probably get people in a little hot water if smart phones existed back then. It was kinda miserable at the time but it did weed out a few guys that were only in it for the drinking but like you said, that stuff means nothing in the real world after college. The only ones it means something too are the few guys I still talk to from my chapter.
