It's a frat, not force recon.

And? Whats your point? Does it matter what group it is, and their purpose when it comes to testing some ones grit? Especially if a group decides it takes a certain level to prove yourself.

If done right teaching young college punks how to follow before leading is invaluable. Which is something I learned, and thankful for it. Humbling experience I wouldn't go back, and change.

Funny how all the negas come around, and dont notice the 3 fingers pointing back at them. Easy to talk negative about something they have no real clue about.

Not comparing to military, but not many different types of tactics the military uses if done right. I guarantee you that no one would think stuff I had to do was "weak sauce." Gay shite crosses the line, and would have walked out. That not being apart of it was promised to us going in. "No one wants to see or touch your little boy private parts, so definitely report to your pledge master" Top of a short list "not acceptable stuff" though. That was reviewed with the brothers too.

Mind games mixed with testing ones physical ability can definitely help change a young man who hasnt been forced too. Humbles the small town "hs football star".

Beta pussies, and cocky "shite dont stink" wannabe alphas get washed out.

"If done right" being the key words. This clearly isn't being done right.

Teaching young college punks that punkish behavior is rewarded, and that you shouldn't stand up for yourself, is how we end up with a society of socialists and a society of police state types.

Funny, 18 year olds are considered developed enough to vote and live on their own, but now they are just insecure children. Maybe we shouldn’t coddle the frick out them and they will grow up to be men and not pussies.

Which is to say: Everyone in 2019 is just a big ol pussy. Fraternities have been doing stupid shite for decades. With social media, snowflakes, and call out culture, everyone gets bent out of shape about it.

The problem I have with hazing is not that "the 18 year old pledges signed up for it and know what they're getting into".

It's that the older actives should know better than to allow and enforce half of the shite that goes on during the hazing process. And let's cut through the bullshite. All fraternities haze. That's the little smug and arrogant (and insulting to intelligence) joke that has always gone on, that fraternities don't haze. And when you talk to somebody who used to be in a fraternity and ask them what they had to do as a pledge, you always get that same tight lipped guilty as sin look back at you.

And for the record, I don't think that the Greek system should be gotten rid of. Just stop doing dumb and dangerous shite during the hazing process.

When are we going to demand the "historically black" fraternities stop branding their members? We see evidence of it every fricking Sunday during NFL season.....

This.

It wasn't if you could do a hundred push-ups or could put up with humiliating yourself by running to McDonalds in the bottom-half of a chicken suit. We had more confidence in the skinny kid who did push-ups until he couldn't do any more. Or the quarterback/prom-king who humbled himself to call a nerdish upperclassman sir.

Yeah, we wanted the high school athletic stars, but not if they thought they were coming into the fraternity at a higher level than the rest. You could tell which fraternities didn't make their pledges earn entry. They were more likely to talk shite about their members or fail to back them up when they needed it. Their friendships also didn't last. Forty years later, I still text with my fraternity brothers on a weekly basis and meet-up at any excuse.

It happens twice a year on average. And how does LSU respond? Put them on suspension Sunday, remove it Wednesday.

I was in one of the big frats while I was at LSU, we didn't do any physical hazing, we did do some psych hazing but it was all part of a process that everyone had previously gone through themselves, there has to be some sort of standard, can't let any run of the mill GDI wannabe in the bonds

I'm not a shite on frats guy, but are we really gonna act like this is exclusive to frat brothers?

Well of course. That's what I'm saying though. All fraternities haze.

Hell for that matter, any time you get a group of men together, you're going to get some kind of hazing ritual to the newer members, no matter what venue or group you're talking about. It might not be an official hazing, but some type of hazing is going to happen. Group of friends, co-workers, sports team, military, etc.

Remember when Smollett was beaten, had a noose put on his neck and bleach poured on him by Trump supporters. If true, it would have been horrible. Same for DKE. Maybe we should see where all of this goes before we assume the allegations are true.
I'm assuming some of the events were sensationalized and exaggerated, but some have some truth to them.
In any event, at least LSU is going to protect everyone from themselves.
