Sometimes dead is better

Projectile points dating 6500 ybp or less are everywhere. Serious arrowhead hunters don't even get excited finding them because they are so common.
I've always been curious about why there's so many laying around. Seems like you'd want to hold on to something that requires time and skill to make, not just say frick it and make a new one every time you hunted. Instead they were treating them like used Popeyes boxes.

They went extinct for a reason. We probably shouldn't play God bringing them back
If we’re able to do it it’s not playing God but that doesn’t mean it won’t have consequences.

Everything has consequences. I'd pay big money to see a titanosaur.

Most of the ones you find have been resharpened to the point they can no longer be resharpened and viable... so essentially used trash.
First stage they are quite large and thin, those are much more rare to come by. The typical 2-3 inch example people find have been resharpened numerous times and are at the end of their useful stages.

Please tell me it doesn't fly.

Great news! Now, when they are available in sufficient quantities they need to release a pack in Central Park on Manhattan Island.

They should release a pack of dire wolves in the Denver metro.

Wolves being detrimental to the ecosystem is vastly overstated by simpletons.
You don't understand why reintroducing large genetically-modified test tube wolves to an ecosystem could be an issue? They used surrogate dogs to birth these animals. Wolves are pack animals. Without the proper learned behaviors, they'd likely be rejected by any regular wolf pack, if not attacked and killed for being different.

I hope he's talking about wolves in general, not this science experiment.

Actually, if you’ve never bow hunted, it is suprisingly difficult to find arrows in the woods once you shoot them…and that’s with flourescent fletching, etc. I imagine it would be even more difficult with an arrow made from materials you find in nature.

Even if they were just regular dire wolves vs genetically modified versions thier original habitat no longer exists. They went extinct along with their prey for a reason.

We need an Indian Artifact sticky on the Outdoor Board, I have hundreds and love looking at/discussing other peoples finds.

This title led me to think a story about a comet was about to happen , because who in their right mind would bring back dead shite from 10,000 yrs ago...that died off naturally...without manmade intervention.
10,000 yrs isn't really that long ago. Humans were already building towns. I find it hard to believe they didn't contribute at all to the demise of multiple animals, both prey and predator.

I’m sure a healthy population of 7 foot long wolves in the Rocky Mountain range would be great for the current ecosystem.
Have you seen some of the youtube videos of the wolves in the Russian wilderness. They seem pretty close to that size already.

Just because technology makes it possible to do something doesn't mean that it should be done. Restoring dire wolves is a bit like gain of function on Bat Lady's covid discovery.
