I was born in 1988. Grew up on just about everything you mentioned. Toonami after getting home from middle school at 3:30 every day. You have no idea how many times I saw DBZ from start to finish.

But now I feel very much like a zoomer. At home I only visit YouTube, Reddit, and Twitch. Have to say I have Twitch open a lot because a lot of games I play have drops enabled for eSports events, etc. I also follow quite a lot of popular streamers too, like xQc and Dr. Disrespect.

When I play video games, I like to have music on in the background if it's not a story I need to pay attention to and generally it's some sort of EDM. It makes playing Overwatch competitive less try hard for me and more relaxing, and in turn I play better. But I like just about all music except country and R&B.

So at what year of birth should someone be ridiculed as a boomer?

Don't be mistaken. You're a Millennial. You had a classic Millennial childhood. You grew up during the good times. Anyone who remembers watching Toonami after school (Saturday night Toonami does NOT count) is undoubtedly a Millennial.

Trick question. Boomers don't deserve ridicule. Neither does Generation X. Both are wholesome generations. Our amazing childhoods wouldn't have been possible without the amazing media people from those 2 generations gave us. Not to mention both of those generations had great childhoods too.

If that's what you want to think, then so be it. I'll always take solace in knowing that I'm among the last of the Millennials.

...

Toonami is a programming block on Cartoon Network that currently airs on Saturday nights, showing action cartoons (mostly anime). In its prime (1997-2004), it would come on every weekday after school. Just about EVERYONE who was in K-12 during that timespan (so basically all Millennials) would watch that after school. It united both halves of the Millennial generation. It basically introduced the concept of anime to the United States. Sure, anime would air here and there on certain channels before then, but Toonami (along with Pokemon) was largely responsible for the "anime boom" of the late 90s and early 2000s. Shows like Sailor Moon, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, and most importantly, Dragon Ball Z, which became a cultural phenomenon and one of the most defining TV shows for the Millennial generation. One of the greatest programming blocks of all-time, up there with SNICK, Fox Kids, the Disney Afternoon, and TGIF.
