Ok I'll just forward your post to her and she'll understand.
While we're at it, let's cancel out Valetine's Day, Mother's day, and gift giving on Christmas.
Could we do something about college textbooks while we’re at it.

Just get a lab grown diamond.
Real diamond. Just cheaper.

This is how you get your million dollar diamonds. They call them blood diamonds for a reason.

I’m sure the young girls they are trying to marry will see how reasonable this is and be able to understand

Bought a high quality diamond in high school for 22k. Was appraised when I put it in ring for my now wife, 62k
Was 22k the sticker, or did you negotiate.
I am pretty sure the 62k is negotiable too. That 62k is what is insured for. If it is ever lost or stolen, you get a check for 62k and you buy something less from the same jeweler and similar so you and the jeweler make a huge profit. Sounds like fraud to me.

In 1938 a diamond company hired an advertising company and they came up with away to increase the sale of diamonds which the royal family invested in and helped to drive the price up by wearing and showcasing them.
This is pretty much common knowledge at this point in time.
DaBeers also shorts the diamond market by keeping 90% of them off the market. Diamonds are super fricking abudent, they are not a rare stone.

Libgen.
Of course diamonds are a total scam. The entire jewelry industry is one giant scam, perpetuated by ridiculous traditions and advertising.

And once a diamond is sold retail, as soon as it is sold the price of the diamond depreciates
I think the average person doesn't buy jewelry as an investment.
