The Covid issue has transitioned from not overwhelming hospitals to waiting for a cure

I thought Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports was so spot on when he went public with this observation a few months ago.
And I make this point in regards to playing sports. I can somewhat understand taking a year off from having fans in the stands, but to me, there is absolutely NO excuse why 22 guys cannot play a game on a field at a time. Reason? 100,000s of fans in the stands every week can arguably cause more spread that would expose people who otherwise wouldn't be with the potential to overwhelm hospitals, but 2 teams playing in an empty stadium will NOT overwhelm hospitals, and I thought that was the whole point of these mitigation measures at all. The scary thing is that now everyone is waiting for a cure, and there may NEVER be one, just like how we will have influenza every year.
I know I will get blasted for starting another Covid thread, but this is the relevant issue, and I needed to vent a little. Life needs to go on, and I am very worried about the future as long as the narrative keeps veering away from not simply overwhelming hospitals. We are living in a clown world.

You know how I know this Covid crap is overblown? It affects two groups most people give less of a crap about on normal days in America: Old and Fat people.

H1N1 literally infected and killed college students and shutting down schools or cancelling sports was never on the table as a “solution”

The media pushed the 5% death rate so hard people can’t grasp that the actual death rate is in line with the flu. As we now know.

Because it was never the point with a lot of people in power. Seriously. Now they sold fear and a lot of people have bought it. Look at the numbers Louisiana has consistently had for the past 2 weeks. If these numbers were anything like in March we should be so overrun we would have people dying in the streets around hospitals.
The initial shutdowns may have actually stopped the hospitals from being overwhelmed, with the exception of NY but that’s because their governor and the mayor of NYC May have handled this worse than anyone else in the country.
But focus on GA and FL and TX whose death rates are still so much lower and ignore CO.

I just remember back in the Spring when they said that the virus will die off when summer comes. What happened to that excuse?

Businesses must close. Students must not be educated.
Violent protests will be allowed. Illegals must get stimulus checks.
If you cannot see the obvious you are a dumb person.

By they you mean Trump. Nothing he has run his mouth about has been correct. As for the OP, in many big southern cities, hospitalizations are near capacity.

Wearing cloth masks was actually worse in every single test than the control group of standard operating procedure and the NIH recommended to not wear them at all.

From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.
Worldometers Covid tracker
USA - 3,695,025 cases - 141,118 deaths; and that is in about 5-6 months.
Compared to the low side of H1N1 numbers, they've diagnosed about 8-9% of the cases from H1N1 and have over 11 times the deaths so far.
That's probably the difference.

That's because they are marking a dead with Covid as a death from Covid.

So the control group had most people still wearing masks. Seems like a study to prove cloth masks are worse than medical grade masks. Without a control group of no masks, the study is inconclusive if cloth masks are “harmful.”
