Scruffy didn't post in third person. Bawcephus thinks Scruffy is the one angry and shook up.

Mobile, can't see sigs.
Also, second person isn't third person, so what's you're argument again?

You're a whiny bitch?

I averaged 130mph on my weekly trip from Heidelberg to Schweinfurt. Never any issues.

You don’t deserve to have baw in your handle.

Not even remotely comparable

You're saying traveling at high rates of speed on empty highways isn't comparable?
Which parts of the Autobahn have you driven on?

The idea of a cannonball run is American as apple pie. It's excess to the extreme. We are a rebellious nation. You tell us we can't do something, well frick you, I'm doing it. We've constantly pushed the envelope.
I think the real Cannonball Run is one of those challenges that takes enough money, skill, planning, networking, and luck that your average joe just isn't going to tackle it. It's a little different from say the Gumball 3000 that has a bunch of new money yuppies in Italian supercars weaving through traffic in St. Louis.

Only a douche bag officer would even pretend to try and catch a vehicle going 193.
If i were running speed enforcement and a car went by my going 193, I’m just gonna let it go.

I don't know why I feel the need to comment, but here goes.....
I think this is an insane accomplishment, and it took a great deal of planning, but also luck to pull it off. I also think it is one of the most irresponsible and absurdly immature and selfish things someone could do.
The internet, look at me You Tube generation is disgusting. You wanna go fast? Raise the money, build a team, and go to Daytona, LeMans, Baja- do it in a vehicle that you will stay alive in when it flips at 193....and not kill your two partners and co-drivers. Don't do it on a shared road with Joe Public and his laboring wife on the way to the hospital at 2 am. Or when Jim Trucker has a blowout on I-80.
For Centinal to understand, there is a reason why the EU limits you to 155. BTW- that's not the "rev limiter" It's the electronic speed limiter that has been broadly adopted by European manufacturers to keep people like you alive. There is a rather famous frustration that Dieter Zetsche had about it- perhaps you will Google.
Don't say I don't know what I'm talking about- I have raced on Bonneville in the salt, Rallies in Mauritius, tracks and off-road in some capacity on and off for a long time. I also once tried to run a 700 hp GTO from Washougal, WA to Houston in a lick, by myself in a couple days. There are police, and traffic everywhere- even to try and maintain just over 100 is dangerous and dumb.

Uh...bro. You need to just stop now.
My 155 limit was based on driving a US spec car in Germany. I had my doors blown off at 155 by Mercs, Audis, and BMWs. And a few Italian exotics.
There is no speed limit on the stretches of Autobahn I was on.

But apparently you've never actually driven in Germany.

You must be a poor then- driving a US spec car in the EU.
Please note my "broadly adopted" and not exclusive language in the post.
You sound like an insufferable American tourist who drove on the Autobahn once, got your pants shat in when somebody passed you in a Superleggera and now think your are a driving expert because you didn't die.
Rev limiter- Jesus.

I've driven the Autobahn too but usually driving at 80 or 90 MPH, I was the fastest car on the road.

I was stationed in Germany and had my car shipped over?

Except it's not?

I lived in Germany four years. You lived there how long?

Ya, it's fricking annoying. I blame clutching pearl grannies like you for them existing in this country.

Are you saying the cross country race across the United States is completely empty highway?
What part of the Autobahn have you driven that has tons of red lights, 4 way stops, school zones, low speed zones, tractor trailers that clog of the route and left lane bandits that refuse to yield for faster traffic?

Because that's where they were traveling when they were going 100mph or more?
Again, do you understand the term "average"? You think these guys spent most of their time driving through downtown cities at 5pm?

quote:Depends on what part you're driving. There are speed limits in high traffic areas. I usually traveled at around 110-120mph when I was on open stretches between cities and I routinely had to get the hell out of the way for cars traveling much faster.

That said, doing 180 on the interstate, like these guys were doing, is stupid as hell.

Yeah I’m gonna agree with the others who said this is reckless.
Yes, nobody was killed, and I’m sure they did things as safely as possible, but still.
