Kinda hard to have a discussion when people would rather call you stupid, a victim blamer, and a Monday morning quarterback over a mass shooting.
Yep, you're such an innocent flower. You responded to being called a hero with:

Sorry that I offended your delicate self. Maybe you should come up with your own solution as of what to do in a mass shooting situation instead of being a jackass
So triggered. So delicate

Its really the crowd effect. Two people see a purse snatching or robbery may get involved 30 people no one gets involved. they just look at each other. It is really how the first few react that sets tone for everyone. Kinda like herd mentality. If one person attacks shooter, others will too. If first couple run, everyone else will too.

Seriously, get the frick over yourself and your guidebook for how to handle a mass shooting

And you didn't!

So we need to educate people from a young age. See something, say something. See danger, act.
We can prevent mass shootings by teaching these things to people. Our society needs to become less antisocial and more willing to help the fellow person.
The police cannot protect people at every waking moment so we must stay vigilant and always be prepared for the worst.

Come up with a solution then.

Sure I do, and it was probably more realistic than yours
You're sure into video games about war Rambo.

Gonna take him out with a boomerang after I sense the incoming danger from across the bar using the force

I'm pretty sure you're the one with the point of this going over your head now.

Really dude? You couldn't be serious from the start of the discussion and you're still being a jackass now. How am I supposed to take you seriously?

A few people run in, most stand and watch, some run away. We all want to be the person that acts. Unfortunately, most of us aren't.

I was serious. I think you're a child that decided to victim blame and then dig your heels in.

No one is taking you seriously Roman. Tell me more about how you would have disarmed him. When would you have noticed him? What if you were intoxicated? How would you make your way through the crowd?
I don't think you understand risk management or crisis situations at all.
Maybe after you get done playing, you should look into psychology classes.

how does a club of 300+ let one guy do all that damage? No one could jump him or take him down? Even if it meant me dying, I'd have rushed him in hopes of getting others out.
I wonder this too. When the bullets really start flying, how does it not become a stampede? Like herding cats? If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna try. To run, or if I am cut off from an exit I am gonna rush.
It's a stereotype, but gay men I would assume is a docile crowd. There would be a paralyzed by fear factor with any crowd though going through that.
2AM too. Don't know if that works for or against? Everybody hammered?

Have you been a bystander to a mass shooting

The part about him calling 911 twice while holding people hostage in the bathroom... It seems like the opportunity would be there for some kind of intervention.

Sweet investigative work you're doing there. Going to look up my address next?
quote:
Tell me more about how you would have disarmed him.
Point his rifle down and subdue him.
quote:
When would you have noticed him?
Probably when gunfire was heard.
quote:
What if you were intoxicated?
I don't drink.
quote:
How would you make your way through the crowd?
This is the only argument against someone trying to intervene and it assumes that there is some large stampede of people that cannot be traversed.

Same for you, bud.

We have always had regular everyday heroes among us, people who risk their lives to save people they don't even know. Their stories are easy to find, they rescue children form burning cars, even confront gunman, never considering the odds are not even close to being in their favor, they just see someone that needs help and act. There were probably those type of people in the club that night, but it just didn't work out. They are now among the dead and injured, but eventually we will know who they were.

You realize that it would take serious training for most people to react like that in am active shooter situation, right?
No I don't...how so?
